install guide VeraCrypt

hello
i am new to linux and bazzite

and i have to use veracrypt, but i dont know how to install it on bazzite.

i only know on windows, i use exe and it does everything

i know that on their official site, they offer fedora version( which as far as i understand is the same as bazzite )
i want the gui version, but i cant figure out how to install it

Bazzite likely wouldn't support Veracrypt due to how it operates, even if you went through the process of installing the rpm file

It does however support disk encryption through LUKS during the installation process

Also looking at Veracrypts website, the rpm file is for Fedora 40, while Bazzite is based on Fedora 43

At most, they'd likely ask you for a password, but I'm not the biggest professional on encrypted drives on Linux

one does not even need to install the rpm

what does that have to do with anything really
when something is an appimage i generally assume it does not modify system files

Not the appimage itself, the encryption, since it's not through typical methods it may act weirdly, but it's just a guess

i assume if something is an appimage it would be wise enough to not need to touch the system ,much or at all veracrypt does have that fameous OS/full disk encryption feature
that would definitely need system modification to be able to mount/boot the system drive
but if you're just doing mounting a non system partition i think that aught to work just fine

appimages themselves rely on it so does flatpak as well as ntfs-3g the NTFS driver most distros use

Are you simply trying to mount encrypt/decrypt drives? If so rpm-ostree installing veracrypt works fine for me.

rpm ostree is generally not recommended

because it kinda sorta modifies some parts of the system which could break the system in strange ways it's very much reversible though

also it has been known to prevent updates

just tried it myself
created a volume with a hidden volume on a partition
with large files support
using the appimage in rootful distrobox & it appears to work

entering the correct password shows the correct volume
