I ended up trying nobara and now I'm going back to Bazzite. But I'm waiting for a 1TB NVME drive to get here. In the meantime, I tried to check out Fedora on the old drive just for fun (this is related to Bazzite for reasons that become obvious later).
When I tried to install Fedora on this old drive, one of my monitors started flickering (and Fedora installer wouldn't work). I do have a 1070ti video card Btw. Thinking the monitor was going bad, I plugged it into another computer and the flicker was still there. Then I thought maybe it was the cable. I didn't have an extra HDMI to DISPLAYPORT cable, so used an HDMI to HDMI cable and the flicker went away.
So then I put Fedora on a different flash drive thinking maybe it was an old drive causing problems (same drive was used to try Nobara and it wouldn't work, but it installed...so i figured the flash drive is going bad and corrupting files). Fedora live came up just fine, but now the OTHER monitor is flickering. So now I'm thinking something is happening to my displayports.
The plan is to re-install Bazzite. But I'm afraid, since it's a fedora based distro, it will destroy my other display port (if that's indeed what's happening). I'm running out of displayports.
Of course, the other option is the other cable went bad and the displayport is fine. I just have to special order an HDMI to DISPLAYPORT cable to test it.
Anyone have any experience with this?
TL;DR: I suspect Fedora live has destroyed my displayport and am looking for a sanity check before I destroy another one trying to re-install Bazzite.
