Hi all,
My dad recently gave me this grey-beige striped sport coat because he grew out of it. It fits me quite well, so I’d love to keep it in rotation, but I'm unsure how to style it.
For context, I’m usually in environments where everyone else is wearing T-shirts and sneakers. I want to dress the jacket down enough to wear it regularly without looking really out of line, but I’d also like to wear it to the occasional nice dinner or theater show.
As for pants, I have light blue jeans, khaki and olive chinos. Regarding shirts, I mostly wear polo shirts, henleys, and crewnecks, sometimes a button-down shirt.
My questions:
-The Pants: Are light blue jeans too informal for a jacket like this? Also, are kahki chinos too close in color to the jacket?
-The Shirt: Is a more casual shirt (a crewneck or a henley) fine for casual environments or is there too big of a formality mismatch and should I only wear it when I can dress up more? Also, what colors would look best under the jacket?
Any advice is appreciated!
