Just a heads up that the hulls do not have UVs thats why they do not bake properly in unity. You have to bring them into Blender or substance painter to create new ones for them to work.

Perhaps you might need another step in your pipeline for now, asset prep can be half the work sometimes

I have never done this so I’ll do whichever works. We’ve primarily used the hull brushes so that’s probably bad news

So does it just fail to import if there's no UVs, even if they're blank? I'm surprised because procreate is kinda making it's own UV maps when you paint on the objects

Zandy's probably right, you may just need to do a bit of pre-processing first just to set them up. Will note this for pipeline improvements though, if that's something we can support our end!

Ah yeah I think this is known, and also happens in Tilt Brush interestingly! https://github.com/icosa-gallery/open-brush/issues/61 hopefully a fix won’t be too hard

Good evening! Encountering bugs with snap to grid. It’s definitely off. It will snap only in one direction. If you look at the plane or object from a different viewpoint, it’s crooked. Had this issue even building and lining thing up manually. It’ll always be off. The only way to get it perfect is using two guides and snap to x and y, otherwise it’s like the leaning tower of Pisa in one direction.

For me personally, it’s not the same….I see the advantages of cad programs and blender, etc for buildings but find it’s too clinical and loses the “emotion” that is put in a piece when you paint it organically. You miss the true texture and feel of a painted piece. It’s a completely different experience.

It seems to happen more when you add additional strokes to the scene after the initial one. Maybe it’s similar to when you paint multiple strokes on a guide and it moves as you add more strokes?

I'm not exactly sure what you're doing - but you seem to be using angle snap with the straight edge tool? Angle snap is only really for duplicating selections. Grid Snap would be better for drawing exactly vertical or horizontal strokes.

By "newest Steam version" - do you mean the beta or the main version?
What happens when you try and export a glb or fbx? Error? Or it's just a broken file?
Probably being a bit dim here but what is "experimental build with the geo brushes"? Can you post a link to the build you mean?

Hello- I have some very noonish questions. Context. Im on a quest 2. Sidequest on a mac. I haven’t been on a PC since dial up modems. At the most basic level Im trying to export the highest quality and most color accurate stills of the works created within Open Brush. I tried using snapshot through the labs panel but it was glitching with screen tears in the preview and also shows up like that when I view on my mac. Making a gif does work without tearing but is super low resolution. I can cast to my PC and then screen record the cast but it does not look anywhere near as high res as it does in the VR headset. - the color also feels a bit dead/flat. I have a quality monitor-Oddly I use to manage a 2D/3D production studio for extremely high end global marketing images. But I had a great IT dept!

I may have done some damage by trying to side load as well as adjust setting in side quest but I think i returned all the settings to default and I don’t think my attempt to side load the SDK worked as I see no new brushes.

Im a bit of a disaster on this and ID be happy to support Open Brush with modest donations along the lines of any paid app. Many thanks in advance. I am extremely excited about using this software both in digital space and as a tool for my meat space art work.

Hi there! Yeah the glitchy camera on quest is a noted bug (and is present in Tilt Brush too!), you should be okay for a few shots if you don't change it to any other modes like the gif camera! It's definitely a bug that needs fixing though as it's quite easy to change camera modes

Depends which version you sideloaded. It's got to be the "experimental mode build": https://docs.openbrush.app/alternate-and-experimental-builds/main-experimental-build

The reason we haven't moved those brushes into the normal build is because they cause issues with exports. Once we sort that out we want to make (most of) them available in the regular version

hello! So awesome for the new release!!
just tried out the new experimental desktop version 1.0.0
looking good, great how the paint tools are in one place now !
I didn't quite understand how to use those lathe revolver features yet and I can't seem to notice much difference with the lazy input but maybe I am doing it wrong

But what I noticed is:
-I still get an error when exporting using the experimental brushes (in this case wind & smooth hull)
-when opening camera path tool the panel opens twice

Yep. That's why they are still only in the experimental mode build. The minute they work with export, we'll be moving them to the normal version

yeah. I keep forgetting to look into that. It's only mildly annoying so I tend to forget about it fairly quickly
