DaVinci Resolve is the one I’d recommend since it’s free, but Adobe is probably better if you’re willing to spend out.

Hey! I personally use VSDC it's free, light weight and pretty good from my experience. I still use VSDC, if your wondering. https://www.videosoftdev.com/ (Note: I am speaking from my personal experience. I recommend you try multiple softwares and then decided which one you want to go with. That's what I did) VSDC also comes with multiple programs like video capture, screen capture etc.
VSDC Free Video Software: audio and video editing tools
Download free video software: video editor and converter, audio converter, CD grabber

Davinci Resolve hands down for me. I know I've only been doing this for a few months now, but they have a free version and if you decide to pay for one of their upgraded versions it's a one time fee/installation versus having to pay a subscription, which I much rather prefer myself.

Same for me. Davinci is a bit complex but learning it is worth the effort. Also, it is free for most of the stuffs.

My only issue is - is it worth all the extra money compared to DaVinci Resolve?

It's a tradeoff for simplicity

I use DaVinci Resolve just because it’s a good editor and free. If you have the money to shell out for a continuous subscription though I would go with Adobe any day of the week

I use Lightworks, a free editing software, and it is pretty good. The only thing is that there is a paywall for a 1080p render.

That’s outrageous money. I’m only going near Adobe when I get the student discount, it’s a total rip off otherwise.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet so I will… Shotcut is a simple and free software that gets consistent updates and is pretty damn similar to premiere pro. It’s not a sellout like Filmora, and gives you unlimited and free access to every feature from the get-go unlike Davinci-resolve. It can be a little slow on Windows, but I hear it’s fine on MAC. Overall, I think it’s the best option for free editing software, but it depends on personal preference.
