Kernel Panic while gaming

Now that I switched to Linux, I have no idea how to troubleshoot something like this. 😄 any way to figure out what caused it?

Black screen with Kingdom Hearts 3 (Epic)

Hi there everyone. I have KH III (Epic unfortunately) that I purchased before coming out on Steam and I installed it through Heroic. Unfortunately I get a black screen after the initial credits. I tried the following steps on Universal Blue:...

ALSA-UCM config...

Hello. I'm a bit newb so please bear with me- I have a DAW (usb interface SSL2) for recording. It is not recognized by bazzite because "ucm error" and I cannot update UCM-CONF because of bazzite's atomic nature. I have looked through install.sh scripting in web search, and also this thread here from 2023: https://discordapp.com/channels/1072614816579063828/1176218547769319495 When I try to run the script, I get an error that essentially says 'read only file system' which is the usual error for Bazzite, but I thought install.sh was specifically to layer for RPM in this case?? Maybe I used it wrong? With the 'answer' linked by @Zelaf in the thread from 2023, I used the terminal command to install alsa-ucm-conf-rpm and the error returned is: "No matches for "alsa-ucm" in repo...." which might just mean it's out of date. Thank you in advance for your help!...

Can bazzite be installed while maintaining an existing /home partition?

In my particular case, I hop distros fairly frequently and as such have a dedicated ext4 partition mounted at /home. I have no problem nuking ~/.config, .var, and .cache, but I need to maintain .local (or at leastmost of .local/share) and my documents. If this is possible, how can it be done safely?...
Solution:
You should be able to just create a brfs partition with just / and /var and then set the mount point /var/home to the existing ext4 partition. As long as you not switching DEs you shouldn't have any problems. I'd back up the home partition just in case though.

Grub Customisation in bazzite

Can someone help me I want to customize grub in bazzite. I mean how can I edit bootloader entries and apply custom themes.

Opendeck not finding wine in Arch distrobox

I am attempting to use opendeck in order to use my Stream Deck XL in Linux. However, whenever I use any windows plugins for the Stream Deck, OpenDeck will try to install the plugin, then fail, saying it can't find the Wine installation, despite wine being one of the first things I installed on OpenDeck.
Solution:
The latest version of opendeck-git has fixed this bug, feel free to download from the AUR to test.

splitscreen tiling not working for some apps on bazzite gnome deck

For the majority of apps, i can use meta+(left/right) or simply drag them to the left or right in order to tile them to one half of the screen. I havent tested everything, but so far steam, lutris, vesktop, bazaar, and spotify fail to tile/snap when i drag them or use the shortcut. I have the tiling shell extension disabled, because i dont need customizable zones, only left/right half screen tiling. I am very certain that vesktop used to tile to half screen on this same system, but im not sure when it stopped working. ive confirmed that disabling wayland socket in flatseal doesnt change this behaviour for the apps that dont tile and also doesnt prevent apps that do tile from tiling. any suggestions? other than stop using gnome...

Gigabyte mobo sleep bug

Hello. I'm new to bazzite and linux in general. I became aware of the known issue with gigabyte motherboards waking the system from sleep immediately, and i found this script (https://github.com/DAK404/OpenSUSE-Setup-Scripts/blob/main/Scriptlets/Fixes-and-Tweaks/Fix-GigabyteDesktopSleepFix.sh ) on github that should disable the device causing the issue, but i can't seem to run it; terminal returns "failed to enable unit: unit biosWakeupWorkaround.service does not exist". can anyone offer some in...

Freezing requiring hard rebooting

Yall. I moved to bazzite on my desktop a few months back - love it, it’s flawless. I got a new laptop yesterday (hx375/890m based HP Omnibook) and it’s flawless… 99% of the time. Sometimes it just freezes. Usually during a keyboard or trackpad input. Any thoughts?

HDMI Causes freezing and Lock Screen Loop

A few days ago, I could connect a second monitor, but now when I plug it in, my laptop freezes sometimes, and other times it gets locked into a loop and I cannot sign in to the desktop. Once I unplug the second monitor it functions normally. When the computer freezes I have to force shut it down.

Rebooting into Windows after disabling Secure Boot. Bitlocker Recovery keys now required

I have my system setup to dual boot Windows 11 and Bazzite. I was trying to reboot into Windows so I could resize partitions and allocate more space towards bazzite. Now it's requiring recovery keys to boot into windows 11. I've tried enrolling keys via ujust enroll-secure-boot-key and re-enabling secure boot, but it still hits me with the Bitlocker recovery keys screen. I originally disabled secure boot since I read that it would need to be disabled to allow TDP controls in bazzite. If it comes down to it, I don't mind just nuking the windows partition entirely to free up space for bazzite. I just don't want that bitlocker encryption to get in the way....

Screen lock triggering while game is running

Not sure if bug or if I just don't know where to change this setting. Screen timeout is set to 5 minutes. However, things like games or videos should override the lock timeout. Was playing Clair Obscur in full screen, and after 5 minutes of no input during a cutscene, the timeout triggered. How do I stop this from happening without completely turning off the lock timeout or having to occasionally press an input?

Gpu fans going into 100% usage when trying to modify panel.

As the title says. I right clicked my panel to modify it after a fresh bazzite reinstall and full update then the desktop froze and my gpu fans started going full blast. I was able to move my cursor around but clicking didn’t do anything and my keyboard didn’t do anything either. Ended up holding the power button to shut it off. I did a fresh reinstall since my previous bazzite install was apparently on legacy and not uefi for over a year already and I wanted to dual boot windows. Basic specs if this matters:...

Installing Foobar2000 on Bazzite

I have tried installing FooBar on Bazzite using WineZGUI. It loads but throws up errors when trying to play any media. Is there any full proof way to get FooBar running on Bazzite?...

Very annoying graphical bugs that cover the screen

After I updated the firmware (and I even js reinstalled) I started having this issue where if I hold my cursor still, this weird thing happens. It’s usually only on one monitor, but it swaps. Doesn’t happen in windows or in gaming mode. I use the gnome desktop and an amd rx7600 non xt. Does this with vrr on and off.

Rotate GRUB by 90 Degrees so It's Horizontal

I have my grub themed but one problem is that I need to rotate it by 90 degrees so that it doesn't appear certical and squashed any more on my Steam Deck. Any help?...
Solution:
Edit the /etc/default/grub file and add:
GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800x32
GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800x32
