Best way to secure a public server with home setup?

I'm fairly new to the self-hosting scene. I've hosted quite a few minecraft servers for friends and whatnot, but I think I want to have a go at a public server for anyone. My biggest concern is security and protecting my home network. I started by following a tutorial by Hardware Haven on setting up a server with CasaOS and Crafty. He reccommended using playit.gg as a tunneling method to make the server accessible to everyone. Is playit.gg a sufficient enough wall of security to allow anyone on the internet to join? I'm willing to throw a few bucks their way if it makes the whole hosting process easier/more secure. I'm not seeing anything about it on the setup.md website. Please let me know, and thank you in advance! 🙂...

getsockopt error

I'm trying to join my 1.20.1 server but keep getting this error. also in the server console there is no confirmation of a player even trying to join.

Java socket exception: Connection Reset

I run a paper server and I get errors randomly in the console, but they seem to appear randomly, and don't have a correlation with anything, as far as I can tell. Here is a sample log: https://pastebin.com/wAcR98Hw. You can see the error java.net.SocketException: Connection Reset, and that it looks like it is caused by dropped packets. This appears randomly: with players, without players. It doesn't make a difference. Sometimes it goes on for hours without a single error, sometimes (rarely) it give an error constantly, every 30 seconds or so. The wierd thing is that nothing happens ingame. Players don't notice a thing, ping is fine (no spikes when an error happens) and the server as a whole seems just fine, even with the errors. However, I know that the aren't supposed to be there, so what is causing them and how can it be fixed? transferring files to game panels, there is something faster than SFTP

Hi, I have a game panel, pterodactyl to be precise.
Is there any faster method to transfer large quantities of files than using SFTP, because to simply transfer 50 plugins it takes me 6/7 hours... I get around 30mb/s connection....

I can join, but no one else can, and it's hosted on my laptop. Port is open (confirmed with online port checker), and it's also recognized by online server stats...

Moving from Windows to Linux, where do I even start?

I have a server that use to be my old gaming PC from 2019. I already host MC servers off of it, but they run not that well, and I believe it may have to do with the fact that it runs off of windows 11. How much of a performance increase would I get from this? And where exactly would I start. (I have never worked with linux before either), or used it)...

Minecraft server host

Was wondering if anyone knows anything or has used BisectHosting as a server host for a Minecraft SMP server and had feedback that you could provide. Essentially I would like something that is a flat monthly rate and was looking at the 4GB Ram option. Right now, I’d say we would run about 10-15 players on at a time; I’d say probably about 10 plugins and no mod packs. I’m NA-East....

Command blocks not working

Im trying to host a modded minecraft server but I cant get the command blocks to work. The only thing that does work is the say command. If needed I can give the whole mod list but the the only few that I think would mess with the commands would be FTBranks, FTBessentials, and Pixelmon

How can I change where Enchantments go on items?

I want my server to have a hypixel skyblock feel, but with huge differences, altough one of the things that I want to remain the same are wehre the enchantments are listed (below item stats) As this is what I want, but I dont want to reskin every individual item. How can I do this? (that is my item on the side, I used item lore to keep the enchantment there as its where I want all of them to be. )

Nametaged mobs have their nametags not show

Hi. I have problem and its that after some time mobs that have been nametaged will lose the nametag (the mobs stil lexist just without nametag). Any idea of what could be causing this? Only plugin that i think could be messing with nametags is TAB. I'm using epxerimental paper 1.21 build 40....
