video settings on OBS

Hello guys, I game on a 1440p monitor and I stream on twitch, I currently have my base and output canvas set to 1920x1080. Should I change base output to 1440p and downscale to 1080p or lower ? Or do I leave both at 1080? I have been getting a lot of FPS drops on apex legends when I stream and I don’t know if due to this. Specs. NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ryzen 7700x...

Greenscreen Question

If I were to record my gameplay and camera separately (using Atium Vertical for this). How would the workflow for this work? I wanted to keep the game and camera separate for thumbnails and a bit more editing freedom. My question is that if I am using a greenscreen, I would key it out in post right? My intuition is thinking that with both pieces of footage wouldn't layer onto of one another. The camera would just be w/ a "black background" instead of a green one...

Encoding for an IRL programme

Hi, I'm streaming a show that uses a hardware vision mixer to mix cameras together, then OBS will stream this and any other videos we wish to play to YouTube. We have an i5 13600k and RTX 3060Ti. How can I ensure that I am getting the highest quality possible, particularly for irl content rather than gaming content? I guess I'm asking more for YouTube specific settings rather than OBS ones, as I'm pretty sure I know what I'd do just for regular encoding. The reason I ask is that YouTube is quite nebulous with its technical specifications. I only recently learned that although YouTube will accept videos at 50fps and 25fps, it won't accept streams at these, and will do some horrific attempt at frame blending! Which is a shame as we are UK based, but now we know, we can plan for that....

auto adjust project settings to the first clip

my issue is that I need to adjust the resolution of the project settings every time for each project since my videos have weird resolutions since they come from social media. It's really annoying to first check the resolution with media info of the video and then adjust it by hand in resolve. Is there an easy way that resolve just picks the right resolution for the first clip I import? It can do that for FPS for some reason but not for resolutions....

PS5 stuttering (duplicating frames) every 7 min (4 months research already with no fix)

Usecase: Im playing (and recording) PS5 games with OBS preview, im pretty much okay with the latency, so i did not buy another monitor for this. 1. PS5 4k (no VRR no ALLM, sound PCM). 2. OBS latest, FPS 59,94. 3. Capture source: 4k, 59.94, nv12, buffering off, color mode: limited. --------...

4k stream + Record + 1080p Stream

Hey, I was wondering how exactly to set this up in OBS. I am using the Vertical plugin (just so that I can get a 2nd stream), but I don't know if it's actually necessary anymore with version 30.1.1. I have heard mixed things about how much bitrate you need to use for AV1 at 4k. I know that Youtube says you can go up to 51k or something super high up. I have great upload speed so I am not worried about that. My NVME's are in a raid0 so they shouldn't have any problems with write speed. I'll toss in my settings, I think it should work in theory, but I can't be sure and I haven't seen anyone really do it before....

Passthrough not working HD60x Dual PC Streaming

So I am trying to use the passthrough feature with dual pc streaming, but obs is picking up a signal as if its an extended display (2nd monitor) instead of passing through whats on my gaming pc (1st Monitor). I have my HDMI cable connected from GPU to HDMI In (capture card), USB to streaming PC, HDMI Out (capture card) to Main Monitor (1st Monitor, Zowie XL2540k) and obs is still outputting the 2nd monitor. I had fps issues with just using only hdmi in and cloning the display, and thats why I'm trying to get passthrough to work....

Aitum Record option in Stream Deck

Anyone know if there is a OBS record option in the stream deck, for the Aitum vertical plugin?

AV1 Software Encoding Problems with OBS Studio 30.1.1

Is there a way to force OBS Studio 30.1.1 to use more than 15 cpu threads? OBS said that it was skipping frames due to encoding lag with av1 AOM but the windows task manager indicated that the other 17 cpu threads were barely being utilized by OBS Studio 30.1.1 even with high process priority. (I also tested recording and live streaming with AV1 SVT encoder preset 8 with 10000 Kbps with the stable obs studio build 30.1.1 but it kept crashing the entire obs studio immediately after starting the r...

Why does this happen?

Quite often I have to turn the psu switch off for a couple seconds and switch it back to power on the pc. Idk why it started doing this and there occasionally times when I don’t have to do it.

Custom Fitted In Ear Monitors w/ Microphone?

I have some of the WEIRDEST questions probably, but you know how those K-pop and J-pop idols have the mics coming from their ears? are those actually plugged into their In ear monitors? 1. If they do, are they actually good? 2. I would assume that they would be great noise canceling on some level or they would hear nothing but the croud. I Do know that most of the time you have someone talking into your ear when your verse is coming and doing a count down so it's a bit easier, but that's more for the headphones than the IEM. I am more concerned about the microphone in this case than the IEM. For context:...

Image Stabilization For "Phone As Webcam" Solutions

This felt like it could potentially hit in a few different places, so I thought I'd make a forum post about it. I've been messing around a lot with the "phone as webcam" solutions as of late with two potential use cases for my streaming efforts around pinball. * A very affordable replacement for the common "Wireless HDMI + Camcorder" setup that most big rigs use that might actually end up being more portable. ...

Help me find the right mic solution (and maybe you have the same issues?)

Hello people! I haven't watched informative tech-content for a while, and when I looked on the best channel called "EposVox" (haha) I saw that there are so many technical advancements made the last 2 years. Especially when it comes to mics and DSP (in-mic as well as in audio interfaces). I just sold almost everything in my audio chain to make room for a specific setup, which I'm going to explain as I need help choosing the right parts for it. So, the things I need are: - Inbuilt DSP (may be in the mic mic itself, but may also be in an audio interface, as long as it sounds more than good), examples of must-have DSP effects are:...

AV1 Encoded YouTube Stream Randomly Dropping Bitrate & Requiring Restart

Hello, I am having issues trying to stream AV1 to YouTube with my dedicated streaming PC. I multistream to YouTube and Twitch. YouTube gets 11Mbps using AV1 encode. Twitch gets 6Mbps using HEVC encode and is run through the Multi RTMP plugin. I get a reliable 22-25Mbps upload from my ISP, so not maxing out bandwidth. Also, prior to trying to use AV1 on my new 4070Ti, the stream was fine using HEVC or H.264. To bring the YT stream back, I can usually restart it in OBS, but sometimes this crashes OBS. CPU: 13900K GPU: RTX 4070 Ti RAM: 48GB...

Encoder Settings For High Quality Recording Only

My System: i9-12900K 3.20 GHz; 64 GB DDR5; NVIDIA 3080Ti; W11 Pro; recording to SSD. Goal: I want to make sure I have the best OBS settings for recording (not streaming) high-action games such as Overwatch and Rust that have allot of screen movement. Here is a screenshot of my OBS Recording Settings. What changes should I make to accomplish my goal? My preference is for quality over file size (within reason).

75k bitrate blockiness in high motion av1 amd

Why is 75k bitrate in av1 @ 4k60 not enough on amd in their own software and in obs on windows and linux, why am I still getting blocking artifacts like this for flick motions when google recommends 40k bitrate and I can get better quality at the same bitrate doing 1080p upscaled to 4k with 36 sample lanczos in obs: Seems kinda bogus, anyone have some input?...
