Question regarding server side render distance

Server question Just a quick question that has me a bit confused. I understand distant horizons is client side, but I’m a bit confused how that interacts with server render distances. Obviously having high render distance on a server causes a great amount of lag. I want to install distant horizons on my server, but I know no server would be able to handle such render distances as a setting within the server itself....

Setting up DH SERVER

So far ive ran a pregen of 1024 chunks set to internal server. Im loading lods now for those chunks i generated (if i understand correctly) and im just wondering if i should change some settings for when new players join? will i need to change any settings to speed up the lods for first time joiners?

Oculus 1.8 is broken (and most likely never fixed)

most recent DH requires 1.8 of oculus on forge to work however that version is extremely crash prone so the only version that works is 1.7, however DH doesnt work on 1.7 Using just embeddium, DH and 1.8 oculus works okay but pretty much any other mod causes oculus to crash, so 1.7 oculus pls?...

DHS connect to remote sql database?

Would it be theoretically possible for DHS to connect to a remote SQL database? I'm just thinking of ways to possibly offload the memory usage out of my server cloud instance since memory is a little bit limited. Any any implications of doing such a feature?

Does DH send chunks outside of server render distance when SS gen is disabled?

Sorry if this is the wrong channel to ask, I don't really need help as of now, I just have a question. If I disable server-side generation using /dh config generation.enable false, will DH still send chunks outside of the server render distant for the client to generate the LODs, or does the client have to navigate to those chunks manually first? I'm having performance issues with LOD gen on my server and I don't have the storage right now to pregen them all, but the world is already generated so if DH sent chunks without generating the LOD in my mind that would solve the performance issue....

Not rendering undersides of build

as you can se with the 2 screenshots the underside of the build dose not render wright. is there is a setting i can change to fix this ? DistantHorizons-fabric-forge-2.3.0-b-1.20.1...

First LODs for 2x2 blocks doesn't look right on high?

I don't have a technical problem but I have an aesthetic one? I'm trying to build a tower that's visible across the server and my idea was to use symbols with pixels consisting of 2x2 blocks. However, I've noticed that even at the first level of LODs with High Quality the generated LODs don't look correct? They're correct when I go to extreme quality but then it seems that LODs all the way to render distance are accurate to 1x1 instead of 2x2? Is there some way I can build to fix this or change...

Zoom textures

I noticed when zooming in to the furthest chunk that’s rendered the textures are really high quality is there a way to lower that ? So I can make the distance further lol This my first time using this mod...

Weird dots

For some reason when trying to use DH with any render settings above 1, i get these weird dots when rendering. why might this be and what are some fixes? its a bit hard to see with the rain here

How to lower performance Impact for fresh server starts?

I am setting up a new server and we want to use DH serverside, but not on full load, since it would tank performance at the server start with all the players online. I have found the "requestRateLimit" setting, but to my understanding it is for each player? Would lowering this make it have less performance impact, or is this just for sending the LODs, not generating? And what is the default value?...
Solution:
If you want to lower the performance impact of DH, use the /dh config threadPreset command

how to fix missing DH render if i still have the file with it

i have the 500mb file with my rendered chunks still in the broken overworld folder but idk what to move where to recover my rendered chunks. also if possible, what is the command to prerender the chunks in server and how to load them on my client in specified distance so that i could clear the folder and have it freshly rendered if moving files wont work or something.

try leaving minecraft, deleting both folders, joining the server, and leave minecraft again

Quick question on world naming

How does the DHS plugin recognize world names? I have a world called "world 2025-04" and for the life of me I cannot get LOD generation to start from console where I need to specify the world. I continuously get "Unknown world." Combinations I have tried include * world 2025-04 * world-2025-04 * world_2025-04 * world_2025_04...

No clouds without shaders.

DH breaks the skybox(?) in Minecraft. When creating a new world the sky white lines flash across the sky for ~one second before the sky just turns blue. Resource packs like Dynamic skies are broken. Only showing the custom sun and moon. The game is unaffected by cloud-mods like simple clouds. Leaving the sky just the same as without them. Completely blue. Using shaders seems to fix the issue and all clouds return.

What version of DH is compatible with Oculus in MC 1.18.2 (version 1.6.4) for shaders?

Just finished flying around Westeroscraft, loading the entire map into DH, but they're on 1.18.2 still and Oculus only goes up to version 1.6.4 there.
