BI have a Monstertech aluminum profile-based simpit, and am trying to figure out how I will mount a Rhino on it. I take it that it needs to be attached to something solid, like a plate on the floor, correct? (I.e. it's not heavy enough to be free-standing, correct?) This is my setup from a few months ago; my current one is a bit different (newer Virpil stick base, with a different mounting system) but this shows the interface between the base and simpit.
I prefer a side mounted one, not centered with the seat (which doesn't have a cutout).
BTW, where can I find dimensioned drawings of the Rhino?

SSo I’m pretty new to dcs but have been sim racing a lot so my knowledge of ffb stems from that. I have been reading up as much as I can on ffb in dcs and it’s hard to grasp the answers I’m looking for. Is ffb supported by all planes in dcs? I read somewhere on a YouTube comment that the f16 doesn’t have ffb and if this is true does the stick software simulate. I’m trying to determine if I want to go ffb center stick or get a side mounted fssb stick atm. Thanks.
原the real f-16 stick senses force and only moves about 1/4 inch or so and jusy like many other modern aircraft, it's not FFB. If you fly F16 only and want a more realistic experience perhaps force sensing bases are better. That said, someone had asked Walmis(the dev) couple of days ago if it's possible to use the VPF base as a force sensing base and he said it might be possible to simulate a force sensing base in the future firmware update tho no more details

PHey m8, I'm busy atm but asap I'll get you some basic dimensions of the base if you'd like, I can't find the pdf atm that has the info. But basically yes it needs to be either floor mounted or mounted to something solid enough to take ~4kg ~9 pound that wants to throw itself around, the x & y axis throw on it is massive too! this is good cause you can use the software to make endstops so you can tweak the throw length of the x & y axis.
PI can confirm we are getting there RHINO bases & disappearing into our gaming set ups & only emerging back out for sustenance & relief breaks!

SI fly the hornet a lot for instance. I haven’t gotten much into helo or warbirds yet but plan on it

Sanything ww2 or earlier have ffb because their control surfaces are linked directly to the stick like on a car with no power steering
Sso all the effects from the wind would be very strong
Spost ww2 you get hydraulic power steering and now fbw
Sthere is back drivable hydraulic controls which still allow you too feel a bit of the effects and non back drivable which wont transfer any effects
Sthen there is fly by wire (fbw) which is totally different. its like your telling the car where to go and it does that for you so you never loose control

Sin my opinion all planes should have ffb effects available in dcs. because you are flyng in a sim you cant feel the g forces, shaking, vibrations etc of the aircraft which you would be able to in real life through the seat and cockpit.
Sfeeling what the plane is doing allows you to control it to the limit or just being more immersed in the simulation just like with a car ffb wheel
SYea I agree even if the f16 is force sensing irl and you can’t really feel anything through the stick. In sim you should for that exact reason
SThat’s how sim racing is. Some things are translated in sim you may not feel irl bc we don’t get seat of our pants feeling
SBc my sim rig is shared with iracing idk if I could even fit a center stick in the first place so I may have to go with a side stick and if I do I’ll get the fssb and just use it for all aircraft. I’m sure it would work fine for helos

SI only flew fbw aircraft with it I think. It’s been a while since I used it but the feeling has stuck with me. I felt like I was flying with my mind. I think I tried the tomcat with it too and did alright. Landed in a carrier with it in the hornet

SA side stick would make more sense for my setup though. I’m using a gt omega prime cockpit
Syeah its amazing with f16, I can pull exactly as hard as I want to and just in general its super intuitive
Sbut with other modules its way way harder because you hands get tired and you have to constantly correct etc etc
