I’m thinking of placing an order in the next few days but before I do, can someone provide some idea of how ‘smooth’ the force feedback/range of joystick motion is? For those that have tried FFB steering wheels, is the Rhino more like a Fanatec direct drive wheel or like the Logitech G920?

RHaven't tried the DD steer wheels, but I have had experiences with MSFFB2 and Logitech G940. Rhino's motor are SMOOTH. You are not going to notice the cogging.

NHe gets into the cogging feel in the first few minutes
AI don't have experience with DD wheels so I can't really say much about that
Ait's hard to describe what the rhino feels like
Afirst of all, I have never used a joystick where I couldn't feel the mechanism at all and I have tried a lot of them
Ayou can feel the mechanism working on the rhino as well, but it doesn't feel clunky at all
Aall in all for me the total feel of the Rhino, free from the tyranny of springs, is just so different compared to non-ffb sticks that whatever you can feel of the mechanism working just kind of adds to the feel of pulleys and levers working on actual control surfaces
JIt'll be 10+ months before you would be asked to put money down - sooner you get in line sooner you'll get yours and you can leave the line at anytime

NWhat’s the mounting situation on a MonsterTech base? I see the adapter in the form but is it functionally fine with the force feedback and such?
AI don't know about the Monstertech base, but whatever your solution, it will need to be solid through and through. The Rhino weighs over 5kg, but that's just the start. It's going to push and pull and shake and rattle a lot if you use it at high settings. My gut feeling is that aluminum profile -based setups (like I think monstertech is) are fine as long as they are very solidly attached to something really sturdy and heavy
II’m about to hook mine up to a monster tech desk mount. We’ll see how it does. I can post in a day or two

KIt feels as smooth, if not smoother than a high end non ffb base, such as the Virpil WarBRD. Yes, that smooth! I was a skeptic until I got mine, too. You will be pleased.

IJust got home to check mine out. Looks really nice. Unfortunately with the monstertech mount it doesn’t come with hardware. So gonna have to run to the hardware store before I can try it
AWhat’s missing from what they sent you?
IBolts and nuts to connect to the base. But no big deal really. I guess I’m not really sure if that’s to be expected or not.

MThere's a kit you can use to start making your own with stronger motors. A lot of inventive people here have taken a myriad of approaches with them

T@walmis can you confirm that the motor axle of the 86BLF04 is as in the picture, 12,7mm diameter with two flats?

Nso i have been thinking of making a ffb joystick of my own and while the hardware side is not really a problem for me i dont know much about the software side
Nso my question was what kinda software are you using and would it also be usable for brushed motors?
TThe kits that walmis has for sale come with all the electronics and the software used to configure the electronics can be found on the VPForce website. All the kits have brushless motors. The electronics and motors are sold together so the only DIY part of the kit is the hardware. You can not buy the motors separate from the main board or vice versa.

Nso you need the main board to even drive ant motor?
Nwould there be a possibility of me getting the data from/to the pc with a custom pcb?
TThe VPForce mainboard handles communication with your PC. The motors for sale here need some anti-cogging configuration which is also built in so with this kit you only need to make and attach it to a gimbal.
TThere is no plug and play, bring your own motor or mainboard option. I suppose you could but you would be redoing everything that has been done already for no reason.
IIs there a way to transfer the button settings from the virpil base to the vp base on DCS? Or do I gotta start from scratch on configuring all the aircraft
