So I have an couple questions, hope this is the right place. I currently have a winwing orion 2 with the F-16EX stick. I'm not super keen on picking up the RHINO base as I have custom made mounting for my current set up and would need a rework for the the stick. That being said the motor kits have peaked my interest and I think I could modify the base to implement the kit into my current mounting system. (Note: I mostly fly the Apache and looking at this for the force trim replication, however I do fly fixed wing too and I love that the software can replicate a spring as well for that.)

My main questions are:

Do I have to connect the stick to the PCB/USB Controller that comes with the kit? or can I use the normal orion setup and just plug in the motors to the kit and whatever else is required? (basically stick would be how it is now, its own device, the motors would be a new device on its own)

and 2. What are the benefits of the pully system/wheels I see used for each axes? I assume it increases precision and I think torque? I'm not well versed in the engineering behind it so not sure.

The stick buttons can be separate device. I don’t know anything about your current stick but if it has a USB connector and you can find a good solution for cable management then it could work. If you are using DCS it’s as easy as just assigning the pitch and roll axis to the VPForce device and call it a day.

The pulley system is used for a couple of reasons: First it is a method of connecting the motor to the mechanical axis. Second it is a gear reduction to increase torque. It’s good to note that the gear reduction actually decreases absolute precision by the gear ratio, but the VPForce encoders are so precise that it’s not meaningful.

It uses just the normal base which uses a USB B connector as well. So cable managment wouldn't be a huge issue, but I guess I could completely remove the PCB that comes with stick if the axes are assigned to the motors anyways. I assumed the axes stayed relative to the stick not the motors. That would make more sense then

Is anyone having issues with the rhino after the latest windows 11 update? I'm getting all the happy beeps from the rhino with power and USB, however windows doesn't seem to be detecting anything.

@comrade_weng never mind. I found the problem. I managed to crimp a wire under a bolt head when reassembling. Stupid me.

Hello again. I've done a fair amount of searching and can't seem to find an answer to my question. I noticed the PCB that the motor kit comes with allows for a 5pin connection to the joystick, I assume the normal DIN5. The issue I'm having is WinWing uses a DIN6 connector for its orion 2 joystick. How would that pinout look? I noticed theres an adapter for WinWing sticks for the RHINO but haven't been able to find much info on it. Does it come with a cable that converts the DIN6 to DIN5 making it compatible? Thanks for the help in advance.

The 5 pin on the VPForce board assumes a shift register input, it doesn't really care much about whether it's other end is DIN5. WinWing sticks don't talk directly to VPForce board and require and adpater that is essentially a small extension on the Rhino. That extension has a DIN6 on one end for the WinWing and a DIN5 on the other end to mate up to the Rhino. It's not a cable it's electronics that convert signals.

Sorry about that. I had been searching and found both of these actually messages, but they didn't state whether or not the adapter converted from DIN6 to DIN5 which is what prompted me to ask the question. Those just showed the screw adapter and so wasn't sure if a cable was included or if I had to figure it out myself. Sorry again.

Hi, I have made a Rhino template to help me modify my Monstertech Simulator Cockpit. I have spent several hours modifying my Simulator Cockpit, Please send me the Rhino Monstertech Mounting plate technical specifications so that I customize it with my Monstertech Cyclic Quick Release mechanism. Hi Knight, Fantastic images. I appreciate the help., I am putting this Antivibration Rubber Pad 12 inch x 12 inch x .75 inch on the floor then putting the Rhino on top keeping it close to the ground. Here is My Rhino template bottom with .75 inch thick foam. In keeping my Rhino close to the ground The 250G75 Virpil Extension will work perfectly. it will be at the perfect height for flying.

I Believe I can weld my Monstertechk Quick Release plate to the Rhino Plate and it will take less than one minute to connect the Rhino to the simulator and less than one minute to remove the Rhino from the simulator.

Remove the two screws from the Monstertech Quick Release plate and weld the Monstertech Quick Release plate to the Rhino Plate. The two screws will no longer be needed.

I’ll post my settings again as of adjusted them but I feel like I’ve got a good start. Something that really helped was turning down the spring affect and increasing the dampening effect and adding just a little bit of inertia and that 7% of friction there’s also in the top right corner a setting for using 100% deafening within the spring affect so it’s not so bouncy, I’ve got a good balance I feel at least for helicopters compared to the in real life counterpart
