SI am getting it now...if you turn on an effect, the slider itself needs to be at some value over 0. If you dont want any strength to the effect, disable it in effects tab
AI’d recommend not changing any settings in the app unless you’re trying to tune an existing plane, spring centering is what gets adjusted in the f-14 when trimming

AGiven your green role color, sounds like you built a custom setup, but on the default rhino — we have that encoder dial we can turn to manually in real-time adjust how strong the spring effect is. Not sure if you added the equivalent for your setup, but probs best to just that dial that in real time to turn up/down the spring if you don’t like it so strong
KI just tried Trim on my system. I have nothing sticky, and only master gain set to 100%, then controlled by the potentiometer. and the only thing I did to DCS was set the trim buttons. My trim moves with the button presses.

Scorrect, DIY build. Currently have one pot set to friction intensity and the other one I have changed between periodic effects and damper.
I do think my issue is sticky spring which I will remove all together and if I do add it I will set pot 2 to spring effects or master gain.

KI'd recommend setting a pot to master gain. Master gain affects the in game effects including trim.

WYes, now it essentially multiplies all spring forces created by the game by 0

Ayeah sorry i hadn't elaborated earlier -- was on a phone and didn't really feel like typing a ton out, but essentially the framework should be -- the Effects tabs are for your own customizations, they will apply, by default, as long as the game doesn't override them. If you use sticky, then the game won't be allowed to override those effects. In the settings tab, with the sliders -- you can think of those as overall scaling/limiters for how powerful the effects both from your effects tab, and the game can be. So my general thing -- start with everything at 100% in Settings tab (except friction -- that effect has a very strong tendency to cause uncontrolled oscillations -- personally I cap it around 7% under settings, but generally speaking, very few games in my experience even apply a friction effect).
Aone effect i am particiularly fond of under settings, is
Spring strength proportional damping, i like to run it anywhere from 60-80% because it takes a lot of the bounce out of any spring effects that are applied, and imo helps to make the whole thing mechanical. if you want to quickly test the effects of it, go into Effects, crank up spring to 100%, then with the default value for Spring strength proportional damping set (i think it's around 20%?) -- pull the stick to full deflection and let it naturally return to center, then crank that setting up to 100% and do the same, notice the difference?

I understood the hirarchy of the effect tab and settings tab but somehow did not connect the fact that SPRING is the key to the whole thing working like it should, especially trim. With spring set to zero....the stick is far less alive for affects and trim does nothing

Aspring is basically what games use to force the stick back to center
Aand they may dynamically change that value over time to simulate air resistance and all that

KAwesome that you got it going. Looking back, I think I gave misleading configs. I had spring turned off and sticky unchecked in the effects section, but the spring (and master, periodic, intertia, and damper) in the settings tab are set to 100%, so I was utilizing the game spring function too.
KIt is really freakin cool when you feel your stick move along with the trim and just like in a real plane, tune in for straight and level with no input. FFB is equal to VR in creating a sense of awe while flying.
