VPf configurator is the general config utility for the Rhino. It defines the maximum force capabilities for any of the effect categories like spring, periodic, damper, etc..

TelemFFB is %100 optional for DCS and is only a haptic effects generation app (things like engine rumble, gunfire, etc.). %99 of the effects are either periodic or constant force based, so those sliders in VPf configurator will define the maximum strength of those effects types.

Within the TelemFFB config, you set the intensity for each of the effects individually as a percentage of the maximum value. So if you had the periodic slider in configurator at 0, any effect in TelemFFB that is periodic based (most of them) would effectively be disabled.

I normally run my periodic slider at %50 and my constant force slider at %100.

I'm trialling the MB339 and it has this. When you're slow the control stick feels kinda limp and as speed picks up it gets harder to move. Really nicely done. I don't recall any other module having this implement but could be wrong.

As a side note, my F5 feels crazy sensitive, despite having the same axis settings as other modules.

In DCS this is fairly consistent. Aircraft with mechanical controls have the stick forces increase with speed, and aircraft with hydraulic controls don't. Which is as it should be.

I don't have the F1 so I don't know what its FFB implementation is like, but.. what exactly are you expecting? FFB by itself (without TelemFFB in the picture) will completely depend on a given modules implementation and will usually consist of dynamic stick forces if the module is not FBW hydraulic and maybe AoA/Stall shake.

thats all you'll get for those modules unless you are running TelemFFB. Dynamic stick forces and AoA shake.

The default settings in TelemFFB for both of those aircraft should have engine rumble, gunfire, runway rumble, g-force loading, elevator droop (simulate weight of elevator when stopped), gear/flaps/canopy/speedbrake motion, gear/speedbrake drag buffeting

spring gain changes based on your airspeed.. when stopped, the controls are floppy. when near stall speed, the controls are mushy.. in flight, the spring is tight and self centering

A question regarding the hydraulic feel. Right now i got two 1:5 rc dampers hooked on to my vkb gunfighter and was looking to get a virpil to add mc steering dampers as it have a 3d print design available for steering dampers setup (the one mfg uses for example)

But i much rather get the VP rhino instead

Might be hard to give a general answer on but in summary if anyone here is an irl active or former pilot or have a similar diy hydrualic dampened sim joystick like me and a VP rhino i would really appreciate your opinion on how well force feedback motors emulate hydrualic feeling

Own rhino, but never flown. Do have a damper on my pedals, and I will say the rhino software really let's you dial it in, and it feels more similar to the hydraulic damper, than to the friction dampers that VKB and Virpil use. The software lets you dial in dampening, friction, and inertia to your liking

Not true , despite having hydraulic controls most (if not all?) hydraulicly powered aircraft will have an artificial feel unit installed (Q-Feel) to mimic aerodynamic forces increasing on the stick as the speed increases.

Nope. Most of them really don't adjust forces on the stick as the aircraft goes faster. Q-Feel is a name of the system installed in the Harrier that does that, but only in the elevator channel. Something similar is also installed in the F-4 elevator control system. But other aircraft, like F-14, F-15, F-18, A-10, F-86 etc. don't do that.

Bobweights are common and they increase the force on the stick with G-loads. Personally I don't like this effect in the sim, as it can't be properly felt if you don't experience gforces yourself. Others like it, it can be tweaked in TelemFFB to your taste

If specifically looking for an f16 it is the one aircraft this can't simulate better than anything else.
Since its using a force cm sending system with very little movement.
For that, specifically, I'd look into the realsimulator.com force sensing gimbal and grips.
But it's at least a 1k euro for the gimbal and grip.
