How does billing work
So I wanted to buy a Hobby plan but I was confused on the billing. Do you get charged the 5/mo if you spend less than that in resource usage and does the free plan run out easily?

you will always be charged 5$ per month for the hobby plan subscription fee, this comes with 5$ of included usage, so you will only be billed for the subscription fee, and any additional usage above 5$, if you only use 4$ worth of resources, you only pay that subscription fee.
the trial plan gives you a one time 5$ credit when you sign up, it never expires, but how long it lasts is entirely dependent on what you run and how much resources your deployed services use....
