you'd be hardpressed to find a noticeable difference in game performance between a SATA SSD and an NVMe

that said, the only user-writable folder is

/home

, which is something that should be living on the NVMe anyway

because it sounds like you've either mounted the SSD to

or alternatively symlinked it, you will need to create a new folder or partition that exists outside of the standard folder deployments and add that back as a steam library

If you have a big enough NVME drive then sure why not but for people that wanted to save money and got a small fast nvme for system and a big slow SSD for files then it is essential to do this separation as it been common practice for years in other distros.

that's exactly what I did mounted a SSD to /home, again I now have access to 2TBs of space instead of 256GBs, proud of it in fact because it was not that easy with btrfs

there is nothing messy about it, I've run 2 steam libraries for years in arch linux, it provides you with the flexibility to choose a faster drive when you want to for the games that need it - thank you for your comments!
