only watch the /functions directory for file changes? trying to reason about how to structure a project that has types in /common/common and queries and mutations in the /database/database folder. Currently needing to restart the dev server when I change those shared files.

Sounds like the ideal path is to put all code that functions may need into /functions/functions and build out folder structure in there, and then when the UI needs shared stuff it can be a bit more configurable to watch code in the functions folder

I was originally worried about that same thing but there's some magic in the functions router generation that, in theory, won't make those non endpoint files into exposed routes

I see that I can develop locally but connect to remote KV using:

can I do the same somehow with Pages, where I have a function that reads from KV and I'd like to read from remote KV store.

That's just how browsers render it, rather than the actual HTTP response including HTML.

Ah, OK. I won't bother right now to be honest, as I will go with the framework and functions for API methods approach, but good to know - in case I need to do a html-returning fucntion in the future.

I checked in Network tab, you are right, it's the browser adding that HTML around the response.
Not sure what it needs to detect in the response to not add it (doctype? valid html didn't seem to do it...)...but will not pursue this path right now.
