TLet me ask the same question but in a broader sense…. Coming from a Honeycomb Alpha yoke, if you could choose the best all-around grip, what would it be? Primarily for MSFS but I could see delving into the DCS world. Want to learn helis and of course still fly GA.
II'm ~80 Rhino's away from salvation. I didn't select any adapters when I did my pre-order form, can I change that when my order comes up?

Ayou should be able to go through a separate form when your turn is up (if i remember correctly) and you can pick everything you need then
Pif you want just one grip I would either get; VKB MCGU, Virpil t-50cm2 or Constelation Alpha, Winwing F-16 + EX extension. VKB needs the VPforce passthrough adapter which imo is a good thing as you can still use the powerful vkb config software, Virpil is plug & play with the Rhino & WW needs an adapter but will then work with RHino base. Either one of those three grips will give you the most function, apart from a few aircraft like the Kiowa you'll be able to cover every single keybind on any hotas grip.

SI had that issue with the latest version after it auto updated. Manually downloaded and installed the latest version and it worked.
IIn my case I manually downloaded it, installed the folder under Program Files folder, and when I click on Telem.exe nothing happens

FIt's long, unless you make it yourself. The diy kits get shipped within a week and there are plans available if you have a 3d printer
Mreally in the same position - just trying to get force trim to work with the AH64 - have the force trim up bound in DCS and the the force trim enabled in the vpforce software - notice in the vpforce software there seems to be key binds for the 4 force trim positions - do these actually need to be bound for it to work or is binding in DCS sufficient? (apart from that is there anything else needs to be done for it to work)?
NThe hardware trim settings in VPf Configurator is only meant for enabling force trim like behavior for games that do not support FFB. You can leave it enabled, but it will have no effect in DCS unless the "override trim" option is enabled in VPf Configurator.

Mgot it thanks will leave unchecked - so to get it working on the AH64 simply a key bind for up force trim is required in DCS which I will press move the stick to the new "centre" and release - stick then finds its new centre? (if yes why are there key binds for left and right force trim)
Nare you talking about the 4 hat options in the HW force trim in VPf Configurator? Again, those are meant for sims that do not support FFB and will emulate the stick offset moving when pressing a trim hat.

Myes absolutely correct so basically the force trim up is the key thin to bind in DCS (hold it and set stick then release will give you a new centre - and would the trim reset bind right at the bottom set everything to the default position ? also 2 more unconnected questions (testing the rhino first with DCS - mainly DCS, p51 and F18) - 1)just wondering if there are any recommended settings (screen shot would be helpful) for the main configurator software tab settings - such as what effects should be ticked (such as friction and damper) and what the sliders in the setting tab (such as inertia and friction) should be set to? 2)was also finding in the AH64 was not getting any effects for things such as cannon firing and general judder - presume this is because I used the stable version of the telem software - can see there is also a more updated WIP version which guess is required for these effects to be enabled?
NNo, %90+ of the effects are the same between stable and WIP.. itsjust that WIP is much easier to configure.
A good place to start is to import the default vpf configurator profile in the configs directory, enable damper in the effects tab and then adjust the damper slider in the settings tab to your liking.

Mok - maybe I did something wrong then - the version of telem I had running 1.0.0 I think - was showing the telemmetry from DCS - but I noticed in some screenshots of the latest telem it broke out the effects that were implemented for say the AH64 into sliders so you could tweak the effects separately - I was not getting this in the version of telem I was running? - also with the latest version of telem I thought you just needed to load up the module and it would auto detect the aircraft with no more tinkering required - so have I missed some setup steps to get everything working?

Nthats the whole part where I said "WIP is easier to configure". Stable is all flat text config files that need to be edited to change anything. WIP is all UI based. Check out sections 4.1 (stable) and 4.2 (WIP) in the manual (linked at the top of https://discord.com/channels/965234441511383080/1091401951951982602) to get an idea of the evolution between the two.

Mthanks very helpful - so using the WIP telem software now and the experience is much improved however have had a few other issues 1)finding the gun vibration/weapon release effect for example do not produce any kind of shake or shudder (even when I set it to 100% - this is for both the the AH64 and p51)? (also I note in the telem software some of the sliders are green (full effect?) and other are purple (including the gun vibration) - not sure what this means and the active effect column seems to change during the flight from 1 to 4 or 5 - not sure if this is as intended?2) still struggling with the behaviour of the forced trim (everything is setup - button mapped to force trim up and the instant trim selected in the options for the AH64) - however the result when I pull and release the force trim up button is very inconsistent - occasionally it will remain in the new position (presume as intended) but often it will come back to the natural centre either slowly or immediately- note the button press in the 3d cockpit is showing up as expected but the result is certain not what I expect?
Nreally don't know on the force trim issue.. that has not to do with TelemFFB.. its all DirectX FFB betwen DCS and the Rhino. as long as you have the "instant" option picked in the 64's special settings, when you push and hold the TR, the spring force on the rhino should go away... when you release the TR button, the spring will return with the center at the new position.
For the gunfire... if you are feeling other effects (engine/rotor/ground/stall, etc).. make sure you don't have unlimited ammo enabled. When its enabled, the ammo quantity never changes and Telem doesn't know your firing a weapon.

IHey all, I'm "semi" new in the flight sim world, been playing DCS for the better part of 8 months maybe now and was wondering.
This FFB stick, will it make a big difference for me in the F-14? I'm aware it doesn't have Fly By Wire so it probably would make a big change, but the videos I've seen have been people flying choppers or Prop Planes

RMostly in shake effects and stick resistance when pulling G I think. F-4 sounds like it'll be pretty much the same
Mok understood - so for the force trim question the correct button to map in DCS is force trim R/UP? (no other settings or boxes need to be ticked in any of the VPforce software) and the stick should actually shift (physically) to the new position? (this is just not happening with the stick often jumping further in the direction I am holding the stick towards before it goes back usually to the centre) is there another helicopter I could try where its been implemented?- for the gunfire will check I dont have unlimited ammo selected - also does the slider being purple mean the effect is just not active currently or that with the aircraft curently selected its not been implemented? (for the aircraft I have tried its selectable - but always appear purple) - with only 5 or 6 of the effects appearing in green......
Fyeah, for the apache it is trim up and it should force trim the stick into its new position.

maybe your base settings in the VPforce software are too weak to keep the real stick in position? not sure. I am new to the Rhino as well.

SAlso make sure that you don’t have any curves set up in DCS for the joystick. Curves make force trim work all wonky.
Mthanks - actually for the gun effect had ammo unlimited on so it now works - still struggling with the force trim (and FFB is enabled in the options) - however see the post below - do actually have some curves set.....
Mactually for some of them definetly have some curves set - do you mean set them all back to default (straight line) with no deadzones might help?
NYes, axis curves and FFB do not get along at all.
