Mok understood - so for the force trim question the correct button to map in DCS is force trim R/UP? (no other settings or boxes need to be ticked in any of the VPforce software) and the stick should actually shift (physically) to the new position? (this is just not happening with the stick often jumping further in the direction I am holding the stick towards before it goes back usually to the centre) is there another helicopter I could try where its been implemented?- for the gunfire will check I dont have unlimited ammo selected - also does the slider being purple mean the effect is just not active currently or that with the aircraft curently selected its not been implemented? (for the aircraft I have tried its selectable - but always appear purple) - with only 5 or 6 of the effects appearing in green......
Fyeah, for the apache it is trim up and it should force trim the stick into its new position.
it works for every helicopter I have tested so far. make sure to set force feedback active in the general settings of DCS as well.
maybe your base settings in the VPforce software are too weak to keep the real stick in position? not sure. I am new to the Rhino as well.

SAlso make sure that you don’t have any curves set up in DCS for the joystick. Curves make force trim work all wonky.
Mthanks - actually for the gun effect had ammo unlimited on so it now works - still struggling with the force trim (and FFB is enabled in the options) - however see the post below - do actually have some curves set.....
Mactually for some of them definetly have some curves set - do you mean set them all back to default (straight line) with no deadzones might help?
NYes, axis curves and FFB do not get along at all.

Mso for the apache reset the curves and its feeling much better! with the force trim now working (confirmed by keeping the joystick position box open on the monitor next to me - just wondering how I can bring up the DCS joystick position monitor in game?) - only issue I had was when I then moved onto test some fixed wing aircraft (p51 and spitfire) the stick centre seemed off, the stick sometime drifted down and ffb on the aircraft didn't feel right (note I corrected the DCS curve on these aircraft vut didnt seem to help) also tried restarting the software and something still didnt feel right in the FFB - didnt have time to test but guessing it might be necessary to power down the base between flights (to reset everything) or might these planes need completely different settings in the VPforce software for the FFB to feel right?
WCenter drift is normal on non-FBW aircraft, for example F-14 center pos noticeably drifts with AoA and different airspeed
WThere's no need to restart the base on every flight, DCS does a good job of resetting it's effects
FRCtrl+Enter is the command to display the joystick position in game
SCurves are broken in dcs, they dont apply to ffb so the position mismatch. Also you should have enough precision to avoid curves if you use a stick extension
SCenter will drift depending on triming and wind. When you have high airspeed Centering should strengthen to trim position.
Tis there an equivalent curves setting for the stick outside of dcs?

SYes, there should be for normal axis. Or ffb the software of your stick needs to support it but in theory with high end stick like the rhino, laserwing or ffbeast the curves are unnecessary
Tcool. I dont use curves, but I do reduce the saturation on the gazelle and AH64 just to give me a bitmore finesse

Tim running a CM3 base with no springs and clutch, works well but Im sure the Rhino will be better

SAnd is the stick positioned just above your legs
SFFB helps but having good ergonomics helps way more
Fdont worry, it is. Havent used the cm3 so cant comment on the feel personally but heard the rhino is better, and actual ffb trim is amazing
Trunning the 20cm extension with the T50, it sits a little bit too high

Tbetween my legs, but my arm doesnt rest on my leg, so I think its a bit too high. its perfectly comfortable, but I'd prefer it a little lower
SYou should be able to rest your wrist on your legs while flyng and just control the stick with finger tips
SIts really important. Not only stopping your hand from tiring and leaning on the stick but to give it a reference point. Its a lot harder to control your whole arm precisely in air then it is a small portion of your hand
