Reporting back for those interested: Lossless Scaling does work, but it's not optimal in every game I've tried. It effectively boosts fps, but it's not without compromises (some ghosting, noticeable input latency). I guess it's a useful tool for mainly very heavy games that need every single bit of performance boost you can mange to get, but games that already play reasonably well probably are fine without it.
