Trying to change NPC sprite but it's not working

I inserted a spritesheet into the game and fixed up all the animations i need. now i want to make this one toad use that sprite so i set it to that in the map editor. It shows the Sprite as red and when i compile it just uses the regular toad sprite

yea it works as intended there oh also for the spritesheet i copied the toad files and just swapped out the images so it should just fit in

Then you might have Compile Spritesheets turned off in the mod manager The lower Options button

oh wait no i have that i just havent changed a specific NPCs sprite i have however edited images before

You can't just change those sprites in the map editor, you need to tell the scripts to use this new spritesheet as well The best way to edit vanilla NPCs is really to edit their specific sprites rather than changing which spritesheet they use, because now you have to go through the entire source file for that map and change animations everywhere For things like talking Totally doable though if you want to

If you're familiar with patching, all you really need to do is patch the NPC group No need to change anything, patching it at all will force SR to recompile it, and it will use the animations you defined in the map editor Then you also need to patch its interact script, which probably has a SpeakToPlayer line that defines talking animations

yea idk :< hes shmoving as i wanted hmm i cant really figure it out but thats ok, this was just a teensy extra thing on a different mod so ill just close the thread so things dont get clogged, thank you for your help tho!
