Just from my experience GNOME is the thing I see Linux side that has the most vocal group of "pointless dislikers" as I call them

ABut it's everywhere

AIn the end I just view it as pointless at best and harmful at worst and it's just like... Yeah
WOne thing that I really like about GNOME is that you can play a game in fullscreen borderless windowed mode and have a youtube video playing in picture-in-picture (yeah I watch youtube while gaming....). This doesn't work in KDE but I've found that I prefer the "feel" of KDE. Does any one know how to get picture-in-picture working with a full screen game in KDE? Very random question I know

WFor me, I tried out Ubuntu for the first time where it was on a DVD packaged in a Pc Format magazine (back when it took forever to download 4 GB over dialup...)

Mthat is another thing. Back in 21 when there was a community I was in or people I knew they would act as if flatpaks are too old and real linxu users should do it this way or that way

AAs somebody who spent FAR too long in the dependency hell mines in the pre flatpak years I am EXTREMELY HAPPY FLATPAK EXISTS
Vmy personal dislike is on them being insular and doing their own thing on wayland protocols while literally everyone else besides them (kde, system76, wlroots, valve, etc.) are collaborating to get things fixed and add needed features. as far as the DE itself? no hate on it. it's fine. it's just "not for me". but people liking it doesn't bother me.
WMy only complaint on flatpak is the size of the images but it's so convenient.
