Vmy personal dislike is on them being insular and doing their own thing on wayland protocols while literally everyone else besides them (kde, system76, wlroots, valve, etc.) are collaborating to get things fixed and add needed features. as far as the DE itself? no hate on it. it's fine. it's just "not for me". but people liking it doesn't bother me.
WMy only complaint on flatpak is the size of the images but it's so convenient.

AI don't see the harm in it, mutter is built for gnome, kwin is built for kde, they just do their own path. When you're figuring out how to go forwards with things at a fork in the road sometimes you take a gamble and sometimes it works for everyone, sometimes it works primarily for you and sometimes it just doesn't work at all
Vit's less of an issue the more you install through flatpack since they're all using shared dependencies just like your normal package manager
AThat and they have their reasons and those reasons personally tend to be why I enjoy the gnome experience over kde but that's just me
