Mthat is another thing. Back in 21 when there was a community I was in or people I knew they would act as if flatpaks are too old and real linxu users should do it this way or that way

AAs somebody who spent FAR too long in the dependency hell mines in the pre flatpak years I am EXTREMELY HAPPY FLATPAK EXISTS
Vmy personal dislike is on them being insular and doing their own thing on wayland protocols while literally everyone else besides them (kde, system76, wlroots, valve, etc.) are collaborating to get things fixed and add needed features. as far as the DE itself? no hate on it. it's fine. it's just "not for me". but people liking it doesn't bother me.
WMy only complaint on flatpak is the size of the images but it's so convenient.

AI don't see the harm in it, mutter is built for gnome, kwin is built for kde, they just do their own path. When you're figuring out how to go forwards with things at a fork in the road sometimes you take a gamble and sometimes it works for everyone, sometimes it works primarily for you and sometimes it just doesn't work at all
Vit's less of an issue the more you install through flatpack since they're all using shared dependencies just like your normal package manager
AThat and they have their reasons and those reasons personally tend to be why I enjoy the gnome experience over kde but that's just me

Vit's slowed down the adoption of wayland protocols and portals until more recently. but it's basically gnome's standard/way vs literally everyone else's combined standards.
WI also saw that flatpaks clean up automatically now. I ended up with over 40 copies of the nvidia dependencies on my pop install
AWell gnome was picking the way to go with development at the time this adoption was taking place as was everyone else and they just settled on a method that was different to what others picked

BI just installed the latest desktop nvidia gnome ISO, using nvidia, and everything is flickering like crazy. Black screens all over, letters i'm typing going in and out of existence. (i did run the system update). I'm kinda new to linux just switched from Windows. Should I switch to X11? is that safe to do? it looks like I'm on Wayland right now. Even though some users in here say that they are on x11 by default?

ABut it's easier for gnome to just keep at it than rewrite mutter from scratch at this point and basically undo all that work they've spent time doing so y know, I get their point
