Is it normal for there to be quite a bit of play in the stick even with max spring force? I'm trying to have the stick be as stiff as possible unless trim release is pressed for flying helicopters.

If there is any play in my stick, it’s not noticeable. Not sure if the play you’re talking about is mechanical or some sort of digital play due to software or a module’s FFB implementation, but I fly the F-14 with max spring forces and I can make tiny instant corrections by barely moving my fingertips.

Yeah, you wouldn't be able to do that if there wasn't any play in the stick. I want the stick to be as immovable as possible unless trim release is pressed which is how helicopters with force trim systems work. I am just curious if being able override the spring force with not much effort even at max strength is normal or not.

Those mods don't support FFB so you'll have to set up a configurator profile with 'sticky spring' enabled to get the spring to activate.

To my knowledge, there aren't any mods that do. I believe the FFB is part of the SDK which you don't get access to unless you are a contracted developer, or, no mod developer has ever taken the trouble to do it.

Yes ffb rudder. This happen if I give right rudder from neutral and release it after that.

Turn off the pedal trimming feature in TelemFFB if it’s enabled. I don’t know how or if that will work with mods like that.

@harry yeah.. turn off the trim option for the pedals. These mods don't accept input via the export script commands the same way the official modules do.

From the base "PropellerAircraft" profile, I would recommend modifying the G-force effect on the joystick and the pedal spring settings per the screenshots

Unfortunately the flight model is not ready yet. They made the last update in 2021, so I have no hope, that it will be finished soon. I would love to train aerobatics with it....

Re installed IL2 and tried the Rhino, works good and I like the effects, but joystick feels slow like when there is no Telem in DCS, not very natural and slow to react which makes it difficult to be precise, it does get stiff at speed but when I slow down I can feel a sudden change in the stick were the resistance becomes weaker suddenly, no progressively like DSC, any ideas how to make it work better?

Proper simulation of the flight dynamics during aerobatic maneuvers is likely to be extremely difficult and AFAIK, nobody does it very good. MSFS is laughable.

I wonder if anyone else remembers Flight Unilimited from the mid-90s. It was a dedicated aerobatics simulator with an Extra300, Sukhoi, Decathlon, Pitts and a Grob sailplane I believe. As I remember it, the flight model relating to characteristics during and after stall was superior to any sim I've flown since then. Keeping in mind that was 20+ years ago and memory has a way of becoming whatever it wants over time

I remember flight unlimited. It was fantastic (in my memories) and yes for aerobatics fs2020 is bad. I hope that fs2024 is better. In dcs I think the Christen Eagle and the Albatros are very good. Someone told me the edge 540 is better than the extra and I will try it end of the week. The yak is also good and but sometimes falls in a state similar to the extra today.

The only thing the blade count is used for is in the calculation of the frequency for the engine/rotor and ETL/overspeed rumble effects. Doubling the blade count would effectively double the frequency of the effect

That was by looking glass studios or something right? i seem to recall the splash screen. It was way ahead of its time in graphics too. Anyway, there is one sim that I currently fly that has as good or better flight dynamics, and thats condor. Soaring only though. But especially in VR, its as close to the real thing as you will get without a G forces. The amazing thing is that its developed basically by one guy in his spare time. Dont expect fs2020 graphics, but it looks good enough.

Hey,
I just recently finished my kit-build rhino. I am very happy so far. But I came across a hickup.
I was flying in DCD (Mirage F1) - having a blast with it - and was tabbing back and forth between DCS and the VPcontrol software. Adjusting and testing different gain levels. Everything worked fine and suddenly the stick went all limb and dead (I briefly heard the reconnect chime).
When I looked in the control software, everything was gone. All effects unchecked, all gains zeroed, calibration reset. (Unfortunately I didn't export my settings in a conf file - lessons learned.
So far it was a one off occurrence. Any ideas what happened? Did I just crash the software or could it be some kind of hardware issue? ty

My guess is you didn't "Store" the configuration. "Apply" only sets the configuration in RAM and it resets to last stored configuration on restart.

I might also add, that the stick itself was fine. After I re-applied all my settings from memory (and this time saved a .conf file...), the Rhino worked fine again.

all my extensions for stick are natural aluminum and didnt expect to find an anodized part in black. and since it has exactly the same color as the internal part I thought somethign was missing. A small blade pressure confirmed mer it was indeed aluminium. Your base construction is SUPERB btw. I am really impressed witht he whole quality of the thing. now to install everything and try it.
