RYeah, I want to be able to send either Cache-Control, CDN-Cache-Control or Cloudflare-CDN-Cache-Control headers with spec-compliant directives, depending on the desired behaviour at the origin

HIIRC Cache Rules should have an option to bypass cache entirely if no CC-Family header is found
ROk, so sounds like whenever we add a new zone we should create a Cache Rule which applies to all traffic and sets:
a) Origin Cache Control to "Enabled"
b) Edge TTL to "Use cache-control header if present, bypass cache if not"
c) Browser TTL to "Respect origin TTL"

RWith a Cache Rule as described, do you know if we would also still have to reset the Browser TTL zone config which defaults to 4 hours?

It gives you these three states (attached). It's clear which state would disable it, but it's not clear which state would enable it -- the first state has me worried it's enabled by default

CNAME records normally can not be on the zone apex. We use CNAME flattening to make it possible.HHave you added the apex to Custom Domains in Pages?
