MFlatpak, should I give the app image a shot?
MYeah I struggled with the flatpak in the past not detecting HDR properly for some reason. Although the appimage may have the same issue now… been a few months since I’ve checked though
MAppimage allows me to select HDR 
MStill puzzled by Retroarch though. It’s probably on their end

MI’m curious if not detecting HDR is related to how bazzite interacts with Flatpak. The Flatpak version of Moonlight detects hdr on the steam deck oled without any problems

MSame thing for the Retroarch Flatpak. I’d switch to appimage but its broken in dumb ways

VThey're basically 1:1. If you're looking for gaming though go Bazzite as it has steam and whatnot pre-installed.
VLayering steam is a bitch and the flatpak kinda sucks

VIt's the Fedora kernel with modifications, it's not making miracles.

VIt has the capability to be slightly better. Check out the linux experiment's video, "gaming" modifications for distros more often than not do not a whole lot.
LSorry to keep bothering people here, I've set up tailscale finally, on my brand new bazzite install on my pc tailscale works without root
LBut on my steam deck with a much older install of bazzite, I cant use it without sudo
LIs there a way to get the more modern bazzite config on the older install
VYou can allow yourself to use it without sudo by running
sudo tailscale up --operator=$USER
F"selling" point of gaming distros are usually gaming features, rather then miniscule performance improvements, even if they advertise those the most.

MI have an $800 oled monitor and ti still does this
Fit's recommended to cap the framerate a bit below refresh rate for better frame-pacing & to avoid the mentioned display flickering
Fbetter the fps limiter, better the results
Fbut, flickering in already capped applications can be a driver issue even, doesn't need to be related to the monitor
VMy monitor is quite cheap, I'd be confident in putting the blame on the monitor
