i really reeeally dont get why use an appimage at all? you can totally jsut run bwrap and mount stuff dynamically just like flatpak does, instead of doing all the weird ass appimage things

on the real @tulip i think the reason we explicitly kind of support appimage here because bazzite was originally intended for the steam deck, and some applications there use the appimage format, or something like emudeck installs certain emulators as appimage vs flatpak for some reason
