i would honestly sit down with them and learn what they expect to do with it and decide on OS from that, and if you go with bazzite then teach them how to know if a game is supposed to work on linux or not
and honestly get your friends input, if they want to go unga bunga press button and not think if the game has anticheat or something then put them on windows
He said he won't buy next gen consoles and wants to hop on PC, because Xbox is basically PC and more and more sony games are on PC now. So the best of both worlds :D
yeah just make sure you get to find out what your friends expectations are. if they are like "man i want to be able to play call of duty" then you know they will need windows no matter what if they want any of the newer ones (i belive some older ones work on linux but dont quote me on that and im too lazy to check)
compiled kernel and everything on his horrible hp laptop. he had no idea what he was doing but followed documentation and the compile took i think 1 week
Played it today a bit via Lutris, everything works normally, even DLSS. Didn't think to check for RTX but it's fully playable without any noticeable drawbacks
