"Big" update with several Quality-of-Life type enhancements. Please see below for the change log. If I @'ed you, there is something in the list below with your name on it based on a request you made or a conversation we had!. The TelemFFB section in the manual has also been revamped. Your installs will prompt to be updated or you can grab the latest from https://github.com/walmis/VPforce-TelemFFB/releases
Thanks as always to @smitty for his contributions and those of you who have provided suggestions and feedback.
QoL Improvements
New system tray implementation (see manual Section 4.6) @Will3D
TelemFFB can now be sent to system tray on startup and/or close button. Window can be recalled by double-clicking the tray icon or from the icon right-click context menu
System tray icon color indicates simulator run/pause/error state like the existing status icons
Configuration errors (such as enabling MSFS force trim and having no binding configured) now present the error message in the UI, and generate a system tray notification for easier recognition of the issue.
Real-time settings usability improvements @Piers
Values update in near real-time when manipulating sliders
Manipulating sliders no longer causes a form re-load
-/+ buttons added to left/right of slider for single step adjustments
Shift+Scroll wheel or left/right up/down arrow keys while hovering mouse of the slider is also supported
Minor UI overhaul
Look and feel updates with on/off sliders in lieu of checkboxes and improved icons.
General
Configurator effect slider overrides (see manual Section 4.12 !!!)
Now you can directly modify, in real-time, the slider gain setting for any of the effect types without creating and pushing a separate vpconf file
Can be overridden on a per Sim/Aircraft Class/Specific Aircraft basis
Easy to use, but important to understand how it works and how it interacts with the existing Dynamic "vpconf" profile feature. Please RTFM!
As with any new complex feature there are sure to be bugs or potential enhancements so please give feedback!
Minor enhancement to gear and canopy movement effects. You will feel a bump/clunk when the gear fully extend/retract or when the canopy (when applicable) closes
MSFS
Improved/Simplified settings for adjusting dynamic spring forces (see manual Section 4.13.1.2)
Brought to you by: @smitty
Prior "Gain" setting is removed and the "Max Force" setting is now affixed to the aircraft "Vne" speed (learned via telemetry) while maintaining true dynamic forces based on aerodynamic conditions.
"Expo" adjustment to adjust the rate at which the force falls off at low speeds.
RTFM for the best experience using these new settings.
DCS
Added tail-hook movement effect (supported on a/c with tailhooks ) @kaltokri
Added wing-fold effect (F/A-18, F-14) @kaltokri
Added fuel-boom effect (supported on a/c with fuel boom/door ) @kaltokri
Added Co-Pilot/RIO Spring Override feature @Jaeger
Can override/disable spring force when user has moved away from pilots seat. Optionally can bind a button that must also be held down.
Seat data is not available at this time for some aircraft (like the F-4E).
I don't know about that yet... MSFS has no directX FF implementation yet so everyone is just cooking up their own software. Idk if their software will be better than cls2sim or xpforce, let alone telemffb
Xpforce is not that good and really unsupported by the developer. Looks like he gave up a while ago and just likes to collect his USD10 or whatever the cost is. TelemFFB is a great piece of software.
Yeah that is the impression I got from the msfs forums as well unfortunately. Hopefully msfs24 will have a built in FFB implementation. In that case I think the brunner and simionic have an upper hand since they have DX ffb support. I'm a bit hesitant to drop $1k on a device with proprietary software
I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the scanner I'm using shi*ts the bed when creating a point cloud of the scan right now. Soo pissed at Einstar over that.
Nice job homie. Will give it a go. I run with all of my master gains at 100% and have the effects tab adjusted for a specific feel. I donβt use separate airframe profiles. Only click force trim override when I wanna use in game vs vpforce.
@walmis I encountered the following issue with VP control software. To increase the centering precision I steepend the spring force curve around the middle position. which worked well. However, whenever TelemFFB loads this profile, the curve gets messed up (basically it is deleted beyond the first custom set point). Is this a TelemFFB problem or a VP control problem? (Or a me-problem?)
Sure, I will try to reproduce the issue and send you the file. To elaborate a bit further - I created a "detent" around the middle position by implementing a small spike in the spring curve. Worked like a charm when testing dry, but once the game started and the profile was loaded, it "blocked" the pedals to one side and when looking at the custom curve in VP control, it was messed up. Reseting it solves the issue for the session, but of course, the custom detent is gone. (I was using this for helicopters - the idea was to feel the middle position of the pedals, even though they are without spring forces otherwise)
Sounds like you confirmed the profile did not push correctly, which is wierd since pushing from TelemFFB should be the same as loading a profile using the import button in configurator...
But.. don't forget that TelemFFB by default sets the spring to 0 with an override (which will also override any "sticky" you have in configurator). So unless you set the pedal spring mode to "Static" and set the gain in TelemFFB, you will never feel any spring.
I know. The issue was, that the pedals didn't went limb when it happened, but stiff (only on one side) and either way it shouldn't alter the gain curve in the vpconf, no? I assume the issue occured due to my messing with the curve, but it's beyond my capabilities to pinpoint the reason. Probably some "division by zero" problem, I created....
