, Steam OS is a immutable variant of arch that is built from snapshots that can be fairly old

then go into tty and try restart sddm
CTRL
+ALT
+F4 then login and run
sudo systemctl restart sddm
sudo systemctl restart sddm
other than that i guess the next step is a reboot
