So if the new model of Steam Deck comes out next year (Yes the thing which people calls Steam Deck 2Steam Deck 2) will I have to wait until Bazzite gets support for the new model of Steam Deck?
When the Steam Deck released most of the expected functionality wasn't available on normal Linux, though Valve was very much in the process of getting stuff working
We are getting a deck for the family, my daughter and me already run bazzite on our gaming desktops, if I stick bazzite on the deck is there anything missing feature wise from the steamOS defaults, any issues with multiple accounts on the deck or anything like that?
afaik bazzite is feature parity with steam os + much more, probably most issue come from third party steamdeck utilities like decky extension expecting steamdeck default like file location or deck as username
Hey, so last night i installed bazzite and it kept going to black screen, someone here told me that was a kernel issue and it's fixed now... well i redownloaded the image, reinstalled (even checked checksums and everything this time) and the exact same thing happened. I boot, the boot process seems to work normally, until it goes into a blackscreen instead of booting kde or game mode, i'm on steam deck with the latest kde steam deck image from the website
aww dang.. wiped all my game configurations on steam deck for nothing :/ i guess i'll try and make this inatallation boot into kde somehow and like... just see how well i can use it with just desktop and steam big picture
I managed to make it work it seems, plugged it in my dock with my monitor this time (mostly so i could read terminal) but then it magically went to the language select, so i unplugged and voilá
Hey so I saw the new update is there for Ally.. I checked and mine is already on -deck as I have only installed the OS within the last week. So now I just run the update function within Steam system update menu? Or I need to do something in desktop mode?
I am an active Bazzite user on my laptop, do you recommend Bazzite for steam deck too? Also does the controller (joysticks and buttons) work the same way like on Steam OS when using the desktop mode?
right now it seems the install is borked so i don't recommend it at this moment, this is my first time trying the os at all sooooo i can give you a review later on
aah, fair. I just went into rescue to try and see if i can get it to boot into kde, but upon rebooting (and forgetting to go back into rescue) it kinda just ended up working with an external monitor plugged in. And.. as with any os install on a steam deck, a dock you can plug a usb and a keyboard in at the same time is pretty much mandatory
