I'm curious if you had a phase in your project saved while it was still a two-piece solution like the OG Rhino?

I ask because I already have the metal connector from Walmis, so I might as well rather attach it to a version of a shorter stem (your stubby project).

That‘s the problem, the metal connector is connected via a square-tube insert in the stem. In order to give it enough strength the gimbal part needs to be a certain length. Or in other words, if you want it shorter a meaningful amount, you HAVE to make it a single piece.

Yes it's possible to shorten the stem. The stock Rhino has 20mm square aluminum tube of 100mm length. It's possible to swap out a shorter one of the desired size (though the leather part might need tweaking for a shorter stem). If you need one, you can shoot me a DM, we could make a custom one

yeah good move! that would be helpful for my use case where the Rhino shifts between center and side stick position. more adjustability on the extension side is indeed purposeful

If the wire is long from the grip to the board it might pickup noise - I recommend using a shielded cable or adding a ferrite choke with a one/few turns

First two numbers are the dimensions of the motors 57mm vs 86mm. The 86 are bigger motors than the 57 but the 86BLF04 is bigger (longer) than the 86BLF03. Bigger motor means more force.

I think for collective, most people are doing 86 series. 03 would probably be fine but for only 20€ more, you can get the stronger 04 motor kit.

57BLF03 - 57x101mm - 1.6Nm peak - 1.24kg - NEMA23 [used in the RHINO base]
86BLF03 - 86x81mm - 3.2Nm peak - 2.2kg - NEMA34

Has the price of 800 € for the base at some point changed from VAT included to VAT excluded? In February at least an invoice to Finland was 800 €, tax included, but mine just now was 800 €, tax excluded. It's a pretty substantial change.
