Normally it's saved in the base and not the grip (unless it's new??). If you plug in Rhino + Virpil grip, it doesn't appear in the VPC configurator.
I'm also waiting for their new grip and could test all that but I'm not worried about the configuration with the Rhino base.
I imagine that with the Rhino configurator you'll still be able to choose what to do with these hats.
