DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line arg
I currently have 5 games installed, I've beat one, one works, and the other three are all broken different ways. š
One is giving me this error. I tried searching for it here on the server, but wasn't able to figure out what to do from it. (One seemed to be a Marvel Rivals thing where the game was being launched from the wrong directory? I'm not playing Rivals.) Logs attached.

Could you update to 2.16.1 and give a new log
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
sure!
like-goldā¢3mo ago
This is not a proper log
PROTON_LOG=1
Add this env var
Run with it
This would create a heroic0steam log in your home dirdeep-jadeā¢3mo ago
how?
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Because logs that are gotten with the way i described looks like this
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Now compare with his one
deep-jadeā¢3mo ago
there's more info yes but is it useful
that depends on the issue
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Yes because i dont see NV gpu of his in his log and i need more info
Only his Intel one gets listed
deep-jadeā¢3mo ago
oh i didn't even see he had an nv
lmao

bros nvidia driver is gon
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Ye, i suspect some stuff like that but wanted to see a normal proton log first
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
yeah, I've been wondering if the nvidia isn't being registered for some reason - on yet another game I have that is broken I have mangohud up bc it'll load but then freeze up, and it always shows 0% GPU
I'll grab those logs
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Still not it
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
can you tell me what's wrong? the logs do say
PROTON_LOG
is 1
does leaving WINEDEBUG
in there somehow mess it up? I'll try tinkering in the meantimelike-goldā¢3mo ago

This
You have to go there and grab that log
Clicking to view log button in Heroic doesnt grab that
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
ah, missed the home dir part
one sec
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
I'll also throw in the log for Cyberpunk 2077, that's the one that'll launch but then hang
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Only Intel gpu there still and this proton is old
GE-Proton9-19-3-gec2fa8a9
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
like-goldā¢3mo ago
You should be using GE 9-25 or or 9-26
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
that's really weird, bc I have 26, and it's set to use Proton-GE-latest
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago

other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
is there something I'm missing about which Proton is used?
like-goldā¢3mo ago
You need to click that refresh button
It indicates there is a new version that you need to get via clicking that
It doesnt auto update
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
š¤¦āāļø I have my package manager always grab the latest, hadn't realized it isn't synced with Heroic, guess that means I have each Proton twice
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Lol
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
I can probably find this, but do you know where I can set where Heroic looks for Proton? I can probably just sync them up
found it, nvm
Settings -> General -> Custom Wine/Proton Paths
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Your driver setup is busted most likely, try with newest GE still as some old proton versions had an issue that made dual gpu setups blow up
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
got it, on it, but dl is taking forever
thx

@CarriePikh Btw you know that with zen kernel you have to use nvidia-dkms package right
nvidia
one only works with arch kernelother-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
I'm on an arch kernel

other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
I'm confused bc I know this is an arch-based distro,
zen
is a different structure than arch?
it looks like I have nvidia-dkms
too, fwiwlike-goldā¢3mo ago
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel
It is not the default kernel, default kernel is
linux
one
https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/linux/

And no
nvidia
right?
Because those two packages would be conflictingother-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
correct

other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
yes

You rebooted after driver install right?
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
most likely? idk, but will reboot now
I would personally lol if the answer to all of this is turn it off and turn it on again
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Kek
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
turning it off and turning it on again has at least progressed me to getting the game to run, will report back with any additional findings
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Just check nvidia-smi again
If that is fine too, then problem solved
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
apparently not out of the woods, now I can't get the game to open again, here's
nvidia-smi
:
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
here's a log from trying to run, am I right that it looks like some kind of driver issue?
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Look at those err err err
You were being told that is some sort of driver issue
And yes, that seems to be the case
I guess purge all Nvidia packages, reboot system and then install once again after reboot
other-emeraldOPā¢3mo ago
something very weird is going on, now nvidia-smi has found the GPU again
as I've been getting back in the groove, I have now remembered the ultimate weapon: turning it off again and on again repeatedly
we'll see if this helps, thank you very much for your patience and help
like-goldā¢3mo ago
Well, yw but in that case you might be suffering from modules randomly not loading issue
