Installers GUI won't show up

I was trying to install Ubisoft Connect, but installation got stuck in the state that is shown on screenshot. Executable is visible from htop, but I found no way to interact with it. I've tried to run it with both Proton-GE and Proton Experimental and also reproduced the issue with Battle.net.

Issue also exists with games that require separate launcher - they get stuck on "Installing Redistributables (EPIC)" upon launch. Games that don't require it are running fine.

which wine/proton are you using? use proton-ge-latest

I used proton-ge latest as well as proton experimental that comes with steam, issue persists.

do you know if your heroic flatpak has access to that Downloads folder in general? because the file picker gives access to that single file but some installers then need access to the parent folder

maybe try copying the .exe into somewhere like

/home/terafo/Games/Heroic

/home/terafo/Games/Heroic

to be sure the installer will have access

I don't run in a flatpak container, still tried to copy it into directory you specified, with no avail. Exe actually runs, I can see it in htop, it uses resources. They just don't show up in GUI for some reason.

hmmm I do know why I thought I saw flatpak stuff in the logs (it expired now)

maybe share a new log

you should also try running the exe with wine directly outside heroic, just to see what happens

I ran it with proton experimental through steam and it worked quite nice. Here's Heroic log file for permanence.
