PC works worse on bazzite than windows, looking for help to change my OS back.
So, while I like what Bazzite is going for and I'm in no way badmouthing it, I'm just getting too frustrated. Windows wasn't great but I knew it and it worked on my PC, and I don't have the money to be getting hardware that functions better with Bazzite, so...
the meat of the problem: I've been trying to run a windows installer, but I've been unable to find any usable tutorials or advice for this online. I REALLY don't want to take it to a PC shop to have them install windows because last time I had to do that, it was so expensive. I tried running directly through Wine, that both didn't work and.. well didn't really make sense? Then I found some stuff saying to run it through Lutris, which I tried, and the program SAID it was running, but... nothing happened. I think if I can just get the installer to turn my flash drive into a boot drive with windows on it, I'll be good. Any help would be appreciated. I may have to ask questions about your advice though, as I'm still very new to bazzite and linux as a whole.

You can use ventoy to create a bootable USB drive for multiple isos. Once you've created the bootable drive, you just copy isos onto it.

Ventoy
Ventoy is an open source tool to create bootable USB drive for ISO files. With ventoy, you don't need to format the disk again and again, you just need to copy the iso file to the USB drive and boot it.
did you create a ticket about your original issue?
about creating windows installer: you can use ventoy like clerian mentioned or search "iso writer" in bazaar and use an app to write the ISO file to a USB drive
Ill be honest i thought this was what was meant by creating a ticket.
you created a ticked about creating a windows installer (this one), I'm asking if you created one about your original issue (the reason you want to go back)
Oh; no, there wouldve been about a dozen of them...
Ranging from my games running poorly, downloads way slower, not being able to open several of my favorite games, more crashes, etc...
Im gonna try Ventoy
just in case did you make sure to select the right gpu on the download page? I've seen sb pick GTX 16++ / RTX image with a GTX 10 series which won't work at all
I believe i did; but, im not sure that would help with other things? Like wivrn and alvr not seeming to work, cant get code vein to run, etc?
Im fairly certain most of my problems are me just being bad at this operating system and not having done my research properly before switching to bazzite
you said
games running poorly not being able to open several of my favorite game more crasheswhich I believe are linked. can you send output of
rpm-ostree status
and lspci | grep VGA

...funny and unfortunate accidental emoji aside, is that what you meant?
huh. Can't even edit the emoji out.
yes. if you want to go back to windows go ahead. I thought you could be using GTX 10xx with nvidia-open but it's not the case here
glad it's confirmed at least
Have you checked protondb and set the filters to match your setup as closely as possible for the games you're having issues with? I think for OS you would have to choose Fedora.
I don't think that will help with poor perf or midgame crashes, also OS based filtering is completely unnecessary
Why is OS based filtering unnecessary? I've looked at a bunch of different games that didn't run for me and the advice that worked for people on different OSes, especially Arch/SteamOS were 9 times out of 10 useless for me on Bazzite, or recommended things that were impossible on Fedora and/or an immutable OS.
Arch/SteamOS were 9 times out of 10 useless for me on Bazzitecan you give an example? we can continue on #🎮gaming-general (ping me)
I cannot remember an exact game, but there were known audio issues with a specific game and the Arch solutions did not work because they required making changes in files in /usr
I'm finally able to write an ISO to my flash drive, thank you everyone
if everything goes well with the boot I'll come back and mark it solved
making changes in
/usr
is possible
systemd system extensions are made for this
