Fabric Weight - Topic of the day 4/22/25
Well, fabric weight impacts drape in two ways: On the one hand, heavier fabrics can hang more cleanly because the weight of the fabric pulls it downwards. On the other hand thicker fabrics can be stiffer and therefore less drapey because they kinda "stand" - see super heavy denim for a standard example of this.

I think I started out my fashion journey pretty Ivy-pilled which is a result of getting into it through :derek: and eventually realized that my heart was somewhere else, specifically at flared pants and pointy shoes.

Personally I like to do shirts, as the fabric is not as thick as with pants and jackets, and if you don't like it shirts are relatively easy to replace for me. Thin denim/chambray very easy imo.

How to get into "preppy" fashion
basically the cheapest new suit that is not complete trash will be something north of 600€. For that money you can basically get all but the most high-end suits secondhand, with a genuinely good but not super fancy suit sitting at roughly 100€

Also, even with measurements, likelyhood is that 50% won't fit right and the other 50% will need alterations. You should include having to re-sell the occasional bad-fit into your calculations. It will still be considerably cheaper to get suits secondhand than new
