https://immich.app/docs/guides/custom-locations/ You can bind the user directories inside the upload location doing some custom mapping. You cant change the upload location per user.

Yeah, you can't set your UPLOAD Location and External Library as the same location. They need to be totally seperate. You are in a asset generation loop

Have you made sure that the ML container is up to date on the remote machine? I would docker down, prune, and bring it back up to just verify

Yes. Just make sure you have backups, but you shoudl be able to safely delete everything i n upload now

Yeah, so there used to be an issue where interrupted uploads would not be cleaned up. Now they are, but prior to about 3 months ago they were not. You can run the storage template job, verify there are no errors then safely remove everything else in upload

I don't believe that's a supported media type and the app isn't great at skipping over failures currently. You should find that file and move it out of the backup albums

Currently yes you may experience this. Having many albums or many assets in a album I think is the main culprit. The sync process is tied to the UI thread of the app right now, so synching can make the app chug. This is currently being worked on and should get better in future releases.
