Brands that “fit American”: J.Press, Brooks Brothers, what else?
Hi all! I brought a couple jackets of different nationalities to my tailor today. He recommended I stick to brands cut for boxy Americans (for reference, I am 5’6”, 175lbs, with a 19-20” yoke. I shoulder press close to 225 lbs). I wear a 42S jacket and 30-31 x 26 pants.
I’ve brought him items from J. Press and Brooks Brothers before - the jacket he said was an example of a good base fit was J.Press. He cautioned against Italian brands (I also brought a Canali), as he said they’re either cut for slim guys (small shoulder sizes) or fat guys (big shoulder sizes) with little in between.
My tailor is a knowledgeable guy who does great work, so I’m inclined to trust him. What other brands make good tailoring for boxy, short guys?
