Issue with dual boot installation on drive with existing luks encrypted partition.

Hi I am trying to setup a dual boot on a laptop with an existing luks encrypted debian installation. I’ve resized the luks/Debian partition to free space and followed the steps outlined here https://docs.bazzite.gg/General/Installation_Guide/manual_partitioning/ However when I click done I get the following error. “The existing LUKS device [partition name] cannot be used for the installation without an encryption key specified for this device. Please, rescan the storage”...

I can't install bazzite if I don't assign half or more of the soul.

When I try to install Bazzite on my 4tb SSD I get an error if I don't assign it a minimum of 1.95tb if I sign less I get an error that it can't check the storage settings, nor does it let me create the partitions manually either.

Bazzite not detecting dedicated GPU

Hi, after having good experiences with Bazzite in my Desktop I installed on my laptop too. But the problem is that the games weren't using my dedicated GPU, using the integrated instead. After doing some checks on the terminal it seems that the system is not detecting my dedicated GPU, I attached showing the problem. I used the Desktop KDE modern Nvidia image for the installation, and my dedicated GPU is an Nvidia GeForce MX150 (which is covered by the current linux driver). Updating doesn't solve the issue....

you can rebase to nvidia non-open with bazzite rollback helper

Electron apps blurry after rebasing to bazzite-dx

After rebasing from bazzite:stable to bazzite-dx:stable, any app I used based on Electron (Discord, Chromium) no longer played nice with fractional scaling. They were blurry, as if I were running them in an old X11 environment. Rolling back to plain old Bazzite fixed them. Why would rebasing do this, and is there a solution? I thought DX was just base Bazzite with VSCode and other goodies....

Solution:

Resolved: Rebasing for some reason changed "Legacy applications (X11)" to "Scaled by the system" instead of "Apply scaling themselves." Switching it back fixed it.

Brightness won’t stabilize

For some reason, the brightness keeps oscillating through 3 or 4 gradations of brightness. I tried manually setting it, but it won’t stop. The actual brightness bar isn’t changing, but when I use my brightness keyboard button, it has moved without my having moved it. Power mode is balanced. Night light is off. Running Bazzite-gnome.

KDE Plasma sort of crashes quite often

It usually happens after a longer use without restart or after waking the laptop out of the sleep mode. What happens? The panels and desktop icons/widgets either disappear or freeze. This means i can no longer launch new apps, re-enter minimized windows or to access the start button that is located on one of tha panels. ...

New to Bazzite; Performance Issues Regarding Nvidia RTX 4080

So I dived headfirst into Bazzite KDE last weekend thanks to the impending EOL of Windows 10, and since I've had it, I've been experiencing a few issues. The computer I have is not an old system, but I am running with a Nvidia GPU (RTX 4080), which I know to some extent is Not Best™ with Linux in general. The issues I've been having are as follows: - Stuttering and Artifacting on the desktop/taskbar - Loooooooong boot times where the screen won't even show grub before auto-loading an ostree image (partially remedied this by switching a monitor) - Refuses to allow dual monitor setup (will either freeze upon turning on the second monitor, or auto-shutdown on boot if it detects the second monitor's on)...

if it's a deb package you can install that inside a debian or ubuntu distrobox

Celest Ruyi Pro microphone not working

I just switch to Linux because of the window 10 ending support and most thing are going well so far but my Kinera Celest Ruyi Pro microphone doesn't seem to pick up imput, or atleast barely does (I see a very tiny blue bar in volume control... like extremely small if I put the decibel at 150%) I've been trying to fix it since yesterday and I still have no idea how to fix it. I'm extremely knew as well to Linux and tech stuff like this so I might not know a lot of lingo...

Slow boot yesterday and today

Loving bazzite so far! Please be patient as I'm very much a novice (and currently posting this before heading in to work, so sorry i i dont reply for a few hours). I updated my bazzite night before last (on the 13th of oct here in aus) using "ujust update" in terminal. Then when i booted it up yesterday it took much longer than normal. I was able to press the power button, feed the cat, empty her litter tray and still have about 30s to spare before reaching the login screen....

Solution:

I ended up figuring it out, I have a "Deepcool Morpheus" PC case and it comes with a little CPU/GPU temperature monitor. That little device was all of a sudden causing a huge increase in time on the "initrd" stage of boot when the attempt was made to identify it. unplugging it from the motherboard and plugging it back in seems to have fixed it...

Taskbar icons not showing

Some apps come up with wayland logo as their taskbar icon, despite starting with their correct icon. Any way to get them to show the right icon? It gets difficult to track windows when you have 3 or 4 different wayland logos

Bazzite-deck slow death until I can no longer boot

So I discovered today that HDD was enabled on deck by discovering the button combo by accident. - I enabled the ruby (i think that's what it was called) scheduler - over the course of the next hour or two my games and steam started get noticeably less responsive and opening the steam overlay menus would cause a lag spike. - then the games just simply stopped loading at all at loading screens...

Solution:

Yeah it appears to just be that for whatever reason, steam overlay recording (or whatever it's called), just never stopped recording despite the SSD being completely full So Ideally the solution here would be to implement some sort of disk fill limit for everything outside of the OS so that if you fill it, the OS won't stop being functional. It does warn you on desktop mode that the disk is almost full, but if you just fill it faster than you get to desktop, then this happens....
