Right way to install an npm package for a global tool?

What is the right way to install an npm package that installs a global tool? In particular, I need to make use of https://www.npmjs.com/package/fsh-sushi. I looked at https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/ but it doesn't offer obvious hints, so and advice is appreciated...
Solution:
Install your preferred node version manager with brew

Dual Boot Grub Timer

Hey guys I used "ujust regenerate-grub" to enable grub and switch between windows and bazzite. Is there a possibility to make the timer longer, so I have more time to switch between the OS's? Or maybe even remove the timer completely?

Green line in Sunshine

Hey all. I have a very odd and very specific bug that I am running into after a recent update in Bazzite. My gaming rig is primarily being used with Sunshine for streaming to my handheld. I noticed that, after updating recently, I am getting a single green line going across the bottom of the streamed display. This is only happening when using h.265 as the codec. Testing with h.264 does not have the visual bug. Performing a rollback does resolve the issue, but I can consistently replicate the issue if I attempt to update again. It also doesn't appear when looking at my native display, only on the streamed display. It persists into desktop mode. This is such an oddly-specific issue that I am really struggling on where to look. Below are specs, and if any additional information is needed let me know. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, stock GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, stock RAM: 32GB, XMP 3200...

Best practices for exporting from distrobox?

I built a package from scratch in a distrobox, and got to the point of exporting it. At that point, it clicked that the exported app is still run in the container. With that realization, I couldn't decide whether I should create containers for individual packages that I'm exporting, or if I should just keep one per OS, or something in between. Are there general best practices about how to divy up the containers for exporting? Also, this particular package requires custom rules to be installed in udev. It doesn't seem like the container has the ability to do that, so would this package be better suited to using rpm-ostree instead, or is there a way I can allow the container to write those rules?...

Headphones not working

I have wired headphones and they just don't work.

Switching to desktop from Steam mode is now broken (LGO1)

After this update, every time I try to switch to desktop mode, I get a black screen with intersecting faded straight lines. Using a keyboard, switching to tty2 and back helps get back to the desktop, but then touch functionality is gone. I pasted the update (it's now included as an attachment I guess, for those that prefer a pastebin: https://paste.debian.net/plain/1399150/)...

xbox controller works in steam, and big picture, but not in games

Hey all, I have a strange issue. I have googled, chatgpt'd, and search'd for solutions to this problem with no luck, so im posting here. I have an xbox controller, and connected with the wireless usb dongle. This works perfectly in steam, steam big picture, etc. but whenever i launch any games (with steam input enabled, and not) they never recognize the controller. I have reset steam, and tried reinstalling bazzite to no effect. any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!...

Need Help Manually Setting Wireless Card Driver (Intel AX411NGW)

Hello all! I'm brand new here, but I've been watching Bazzite for a while now. I have an engineering sample laptop, linux does not recognize the hardware that is in the laptop, I've run into this on Manjaro as well and got some help with this there, but I wanted to try Bazzite on this hardware to see if Bazzite's durability has improved since the last time I played with it....

KDE spellcheck in non-English language

The only languages available in KDE's spellcheck menu are flavours of English. How can I add my own language to the list? I've read it's managed by hunspell-(language_iso) package but they're not in Bazaar. Should they be layered with rpm-ostree? Or is there a GUI tool for managing these packages?

Unknown annoyance with floating tiles

My tiles are just horrible, im on wayland and my tiles just keep going on top of each other, randomly go to "sleep" and wont let me access another window behind it, if it does let me eventually it will just straight up stay on my screen, you cannot even hover over it to wake it up and use it, you have to press on the taskbar icon and then singal it and move it. I cant even open my settings or menu wihtout it always going behind my active or inactive window. its been super frustrating and i have no idea how to solve it. No non of my apps are "keep above others" or "keep below". now to even use my UI/windows I have to literally move to my task bar everytime...

Can't always exit some Windows games.

Frequently, when I'm playing Power Bomberman, I can't exit the game. If I hit the Xbox button and choose Exit game, the Steam menu closes, but the game doesn't exit. Then I can't bring up the Steam menu anymore. I can still exit the game with a keyboard by hitting Alt + F4, but this is on an HTPC, and I don't usually have a keyboard available. Power Bomberman is a free windows game, and I've installed it with Lutris. This game does NOT work with Steam Input, unfortunately....

Work around for common Fedora dev toolchains?

I'm switching to linux to get away from Windows. Bazzite has been awesome so far but it's time to write some software for it. I've come to learn that this is rather unsupported as the OS is mainly read-only and I'm not even super-user! Ok there's some sense there and I appreciate the simplicity, but sometimes I need tools I cannot get through brew or flatpaks. In the mean time, I have used the rpm-ostree command to install a few developer libraries with success (I'm taking risks I know), but not everything can be found via rpm-ostree and are mostly available in Fedora's package manager dnf....
Solution:
Rebase to bazzite-dx and keep development libraries in distroboxes (instead of rpm-ostreeing stuff, use dnf in a fedora distrobox and develop/compile/etc in there)

Wifi Connection can only see 2.4Ghz and not 5GHz

Hello. We recently got fibre optic cables hooked up in our house and I'm trying to connect my PC running bazzite to the new router. It connects fine enough, but only on the 2.4Ghz connection....

Throttled Ethernet Connection

I'm fairly new to linux, I downloaded Bazzite last night and I'm struggling to figure out an issue I'm having with my network. I recently swapped my ethernet cable for a Cat 8 and whenever I do I'm either stuck on 100mbit/s or the connection refuses to take at all and I'm stuck with no network connection. Any help would be appreciated I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong.

Bazzite never configures a bootloader... (Failed to write bootloader)

As the title says, the installer NEVER configures a bootloader, im using ASUS Laptop ISO. Tried even doing the bootloader manually, but grub is fucked up and Systemd files are gone in the iso.
Solution:
so yea, the solution if anyone has it (on laptop) is updating the bios to a modern version (or reinstalling it if possible) resetting the nvram too...
