WHi, just been pointed to this channel. Some really amazing work here, and I'm super excited to read about people's builds.
WI see it is a common question about force, especially with an extension, so sorry to rehash, but I couldn't find reliable answers.
WWhat is the point of the 4 motor options ? Other than price? Why not just choose the largest motor and reduce force if needed ?
WI have build a 6DOF motion rig and have a Brunner yoke and Brunner pedals. But really want to complete the force peripherals with a joystick/cyclic.
WRecently found a love for DCS, and the P51. My understanding is that can require significant force to move at times. Can we replicate that with the Rhino?
WI also read some people are using different gear ratios. Again, why not use the largest ratio possible, within reason ?

The main differences of parameters for different motor types are: cost, size, weight, torque, heat dissipation. So when building a unit this needs to be taken in consideration. Of course, you can take the biggest motor and tune it down as needed if you're not constrained, but sometimes size can be a constraint.
The Rhino itself is based on the smaller 57BLF03 and after gear reduction it provides up to 9Nm of torque at the stick. So if a more powerful stick is needed (that you would need two hands to pull out of a dive), then go with 86BLF04 and 1:10 reduction, that would generate up to 50Nm of torque

WThanks for clarification. I did end up reading the Rhino came with the smaller 57BLF motor. I will be using it with an extension, and ideally Mounted below platform, that is why I thought a stronger motor might be needed. Current extension is probably ~400mm

Si dont have my rhino yet, but i do have a 500mm carbon fiber rod as my extension on a modified MS FFB2, and the force works just as well as without the extension. this motor is a lot more powerful i believe so you should be more than fine, if that helps!
Sgranted, the force isnt that great even without the extension, but should be an ok-ish reference on how much force you lose (or dont) with an extension that size
WOk. Iβm not sure it will be the same. You have significant leverage advantage so force will be less.
WCan anyone comment on the status of using aVKB stick? I have one and a Winwing and the VKB is significantly more comfortable and higher-quality. I understand they use a proprietary format though.

WI have had a few issues with my motion rig.
WThey are quite clean EMI wise, I was afraid at first that motors could cause USB noise/resets but no such problems
WOk that is good to know. I'm sure they would be better than the controllers on motion rigs.
F@will3d just to add about precision, the Rhino is the most precise piece of input controller i ever had in 30 years.
Fcombined with the fully customizable behaviour with damping, friction and more, plus spring dynamics and additional effects coming in in realtime from the game... a dream

Fbest is DCS. a lot of FFB support. helicopter trimming is the most useful feature. followed by positional stick trimming in cold era jets. you will also get stall shaking. in WW2 planes stick pressure...
WI heard DCS has ffb support but itβs rather aircraft dependent. Do you get any turbulence feedback?
