there is this nice third party ffb program that works over dcs and allows me to tune the spring, damper, and friction while trimming and normal flying.

hmmm, isn't it that like many "bigger" helo, apache's cyclic has centering force when force trim release button is not depressed? by magnet or spring. iirc when the force trim release button is depressed, the magnet will be disengaged and gone with the centering force; once the button is released/un-depressed, the new centering position is set to the current position and the centering force is back, no?

with springless & dampered bases like T-50CM3, the problem is the centering force part is missing. It's an compromised way, unless if it's for simulating something like a R22.
Dedicated Heli Cyclic like this one can do it but FFB base can do better since it can be reprogrammed to simulate lots of other types of aircraft.

I think it's the way it should be..maybe try different parameters? weaker spring force for example? have no idea how strong the spring force is in helo tho

That's a really clever implementation. Had a similar idea in mind but couldn't really get it sorted. If I was flying only helis I'd start on it asap, but I do swap between planes and helis a lot so will have to stick with the long term plan of FFB.
