R@walmis all good. Also, I was looking at Ibus during single axis pull. This, ofcourse, only pulling 5-6 amps from psu. Realised this is only one motor - pulling both axis bumped total Ibus amperage to ~11a.
Phi, @walmis , can you possibly recommend a pcie-to-usb board that actually works with Rhino (for x570 board)? I've got this one (https://www.vantecusa.com/products_detail.php?p_id=55&p_name=2-Port+USB+3.1+PCIe+%2810Gbps%29+USB-C+%26+USB+Type-A&pc_id=16&pc_name=USB&pt_id=4&pt_name=Add-on+Cards) but it doesn't work. If I don't install any drivers (for the board) the RHINO works fine (in VPforce, I see the stick moving, etc) but in Device Manager it shows Rhino with no DUF driver and DCS won't start , it's just spinning (I suspect because of that missing duf driver status). And when I installed the driver (from manuf website pcie-to-usb, some AS media usb driver) there are no more unknown/problem status in Device Manager, but VPforce client shows not connected, i.e. can't change any settings in Rhino, but DCS starts, although without detecting Rhino. At this point with Rhino connected directly to my MSI wireless tomahawk x570 DCS crashes pretty much every 10-15 minutes, (it's sooo annoying my god).... I'm about to turn off FFB because I'd rather have a stable game then FFB that crashes every 10 minutes..

Pweird thing when I started using Rhino (before 2.8) everything worked fine, I can't remember if there were any crashes.. but now it's unbearable..

quick update: after chatting with walmis (he's super quick to help out!) It appears the issue is related to DirectX11 and may not have anything to do with the FFB... Will update again if I manage to stabilize it via new drivers...

JDo the shift register inputs have to come in the order TM set them in their Stick, or doesn't it matter at all as long as the wiring for the input is all correct. I plan on doing a B8 Grip someone introduced but just want to put in a Shiftregister board I have laying around. Any problems to expect with that plan?
WYeah should work, first 32 bits will be registered as buttons

Smaybe a dumb question, but I see in the Configurator software that you can select functions for Pot#1 and Pot#2. Pot#1 is the knob next to the emergency stop button; is there a pot#2 on the base? Or is that setting there for future expansion?
WThere's a free connector on the board, additional expansion for the FFB kit users. So it's essentially disconnected on the Rhino.
FIt's it possible to add it on a rhino?

Sone other question... I couldn't help myself as soon as I got it and I started messing around with the settings in the configurator, trying out various effects, etc. I didn't save the default settings to a file though before I started. I did the Reset Config, but it doesn't seem like it restored exactly the same settings it had when I first went into the Configurator software. Is there a way to restore the original defaults? Or does someone have a screenshot of the Effects and Settings tabs with their default settings?

JTried to update firmware and it failed with the error "Error: TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'CanDnload')". Now the stick is completely unresponsive (looks like the firmware is bad), the web utility sees it as a bootloader not the stick. Keeps failing when I try to update again to reinstall the firmware.
Jjust gave me this error on another try: Error: Error during DFU download: DFU GETSTATUS failed: ControlTransferIn failed: NetworkError: Failed to execute 'controlTransferIn' on 'USBDevice': A transfer error has occurred.
JFixed! Unplugged it from the USB hub and direct into my motherboard and it worked

SOne more question... I've been really enjoying it so far, trying it out in all the planes, etc. After a few mins of intense dogfighting, the fans kick on. Am I correct to assume that the motors will not be damaged by continuous use at near max power? (with max motor current set to 30.0 A and PSU max set to 7.0 A as in the default settings) I assume they will reduce power draw if they start getting too hot?

SIs there a manual somewhere? I connected it and calibrated it in windows. Then I opened VP Configurator and assigned my stick (virpil constellation) . Stored the config and sent it to (clicked those two buttons on the bottom of the configurator). In DCS no joy.
FDid you bind the joystick buttons in DCS?
SIn DCS I found I had to enable FF in the options, and bind the base axes to pitch and roll, and then restart DCS in order for the FF to start working.
SOK! it's working. Thank you @sliphavoc . Only problem now is that the stick wants to pull back (in the A10) Flying level requires constant forward pressure.

SI inverted the y axis and still have the same problem-constant back pressure needed for level flight. Fix?

Sat rest, in the usb game control panel, the dot is centered. However, when I get into the A10, and press fly, the stick 'comes alive'. It wants to assume a somewhat pitch down condition at rest. If I jump in the control options window, the Y axis shows about half way to the left (down) at rest. Full excursion is possible but obviously with a good amount of 'force feedback'
MI think this is why he makes balance spring
WJumped in the A-10C free flight and yes it's neutral trim is pitched down about half, but it flies level no problem with the stick facing forward
MI just make the y axis finish earlier that the physical limit when I calibrate it

AYes, most likely is. But I thought that everyone would be familiar with the smell of new plastic by now. Not 100% familiar with every component/design of your board, but it seems very unlikely that it could, even under some weird conditions, produce kV of voltage, especially with most of the things running on 3.3, 5 or 24V for motors or 48V for stronger motors.
WDefinitely not the latter, though I have to agree the fans have strange thermoplastic smell, but it should clear up after a while.
VSo after calibration is it possible for x&y to be 0000 or is that asking too much precision from the hardware?

VAny idea at approximately what number DCS would register an input thus impacting flight ever so slightly?
Wthe numbers in the VP UI are +-4096 - so for example 100 is only 1.2% of the total throw
