SYea, actually I could see how that would be very possible lol. I wonder if there is a way with that python program to have the default state carry over the spring or default VPForce settings. I could easily see how easy it would be to hit yourself in the balls.

SThe problem is that it DOES disengage on crash, or at least that is what happened when I had a close call with the pebbles yesterday.
AI'm not that worried really, if I sit normally there's no stick on stick action even at max deflection
SSo where you are maybe trying to do a deck save and really pulling back, if you DON'T make it and the stick instantly goes floppy (giggity) I could see how easy it'd be to take one to the testes.
SI don't know which would be worse, doing it like I said or maybe if it's leaned forward and an aggressive module like the Tomcat flings it into you like a hammer because you weren't holding it when you clicked fly.

MI have the 20cm extension on it. Sometimes it likes to start rocking back and forth a bit. Somehow it amplifies, kind of like a resonant frequency and within 10 seconds it's smashing from the end of one axis to another
SIt won't be as bad as the dude who was playing with his... joystick... in VR and fell through the table and died. At least that is the bar we have.

SI have a 3d printed one, and I was still fiddling with the mounting and whatnot so I wasn't sitting in the seat but off to the side. I was watching the quick start video or whatever was talking about the balanced spring, since my extension does offset it a bit and it's just BARELY off-center with the normal spring profile. When I engaged the balanced spring it YEETED my grip across the room and snapped the extension. Totally my fault but was kind of funny. I've learned so many lessons in the past week or so.

AI sometimes get escalating wack-fuck symptoms when the stick hits endstops without my hand on it
Afor example in il-2 with the WW1 planes that have elevator droop modeled so that without airflow it droops down and pulls the stick full forward
SYa, I guess it's nice to have some new hardware where I'll have to learn how to not hurt myself or others/property.

PDCS did throw a fit with my RHINO couple of times, while flying the warbirds. The stick was fine when the plane was on the ground, however during a take-off it felt the axis got reversed and FFB effects went ballistic abruptly pushing the stick towards my groin, luckily there's a very useful big red shut-off button on the unit that saves the day. Both times it happened after a continuous 4-5 hour session in DCS (without existing/restarting/etc). Seems like there's yet just another bug with DCS...

SIt probably would, it certainly moves with the trim buttons and the other autopilot modes in the Tomcat, don't see why the ACLS would be any different, but I guess to be fair, dumber things have happened.
MI wish the stick moved in the trainer's or Apache when the pilot moves it

SI wonder if that type of telemetry is part of the export, if so probably wouldn't be too hard to implement in Walmis's VPForce telemetry app, I say confidently as a person who has no idea how hard it actually is to implement

TThose oscillations is why I like the MSFFB2, the IR sensor means I can leave two fingers high up on the grip and maintain control but disable FFB, when it starts oscillating like crazy
MAn LED/LDR optical switch like that can be implemented on a Rhino without much trouble, there's already a way to use an e-stop button.

Irl long flights you sometimes switch hands, or use super relaxed grip, maybe just with your fingertip for a bit, or your knee while eating a sandwich or 'look ma no hands!' :p

MEndstops did it worse so I just turned them off

TI have a question on FFB effects. I am an IL2 player, don’t know if I will ever get into DCS. What FFB effects are modeled on IL2? I see there is development for extra effects using telemetry for DCS. Does IL2 have the telemetry output that things would need to be developed/scripted in the same way? Or does IL2 work differently that the extra effects work natively?
I know there was some mention of the elevator droop above but what about the stuff like AOA buffeting and weapon effects?

PIL2 has ffb effects built in, you get rumble/bumpy effects on taxi & takeoff, flaps & gear down give rumble effects too, firing the gun gives vibration/shake, stick moves with trim, buffeting effect at stall high AoA. I'm sure there are other subtle effects also, I haven't played IL2 lately.
