The Huey force trim feels arguably better than the Apache. It holds firm, and there's a definite relaxation and re-grip when you disable it. Maybe the Apache isn't fully fleshed yet, or maybe that's how it's supposed to feel.

the apache works well. Pressing the trim release removes all force from the stick and releasing the button rengages the forces. However, it tends to want to move further in the direction it was displaced rather than staying exactly where you put it. The huey does the opposite, releasing the trim button forces the stick back to center. And both of these abnormalities occur when DCS is set to FFB without springs in the special options tab.

there is an issue with apache ffb without springs and trim without spring options. if you use those you will notice a ton of lag on the control. if you use the regular option ffb still works how it should and there is no lag

@swiftvengeance @skypickle Hey guys, I was just flying the Huey 2 nights ago & the force trim was working for me. Well as far as I know it was working right, it was going 'loose' when I held in the force trim button (only bound in DCS not VPforce config app) then when I moved the stick to desired position & released the trim button the stick would then hold in place. I did try the Blackhawk mod with & without the VPforce config app force trim buttons bound to my mcgu via the loopback app & that didn't work. I can jump on DCS soon to see what we're doing differently or if it still works for me.

Reading through forum posts gives the impression that the special mode should say "sticks without springs and without ffb". I, too, confused it for an ffb-specific mode at first.

For me the Huey works as intended. With FFB sticks use “default” as trimmer mode. The “stick without springs and FFB” mode was created for folks who don’t have FFB and a non-centering stick as Asdforce stated above.

I have hardstops for 30deg total travel, and when the system is switched on i feel no cogging or backlash, and by turning up 'natural dampening compensation' a little in the configurator it negates the inertia of all the spinning components. it feels wonderful on the test bench, can't wait to use for real.

Weird issue: vpforce configurator stopped recognizing the rhino today. The stick works well in dcs, windows usb control panel sees it and recognizes it.

Yes, in Mi24 the setting is called “Instant Trim (default)”. With FFB sticks the default option is correct for all ED made helicopters.

The “default” option is correct for FFB. The one many think is correct FFB option actually is for turning FFB stick trimmer off. Read it like it was written “without springs and without FFB”. The way it is written can be a bit confusing but there is no need to write the without two times in that sentence. That option was added by ED for people who have no springs in the stick and no FFB.

@walmis I think there is a bug in the endstops function. When activated and the slider (which pops up when you click in the field) is moved to any value greater than 10%, then the end stop is properly activated at the extent specified (for example, setting it to 50% introduces and end stop halfway through the excursion). Progressively reducing the endstop percent does progressively limit the free stick excursion (as it should since the end stops are moving closer to zero) However, when the slider is dragged all the way down, the value in the box reads 10% and endstop is disabled. This is confusing . The default value for the endstop should read 100%, not 10% as it does now. And when the slider is dragged all the way down, it should read zero.

Also, if the endstops are enabled, calibration is wrong because auto calibrating does not disable the endstops function and this limits stick excursion during calibration.

something I am noticing with IL2, not sure if it's intended behavior, a bug, or something else: when the force feedback is active in IL2, i've been noticing what makes it seems like i have very slow roll rates in my planes, when i drop into the key mappings and check the joystick input -- it appears that when i move the stick left and right, it never hits the end, this is where the slider appears at full deflection:
