Sso forced effect on all settings is equal to disabling ffb in dcs?
PWalmis would be better to answer this, but from my understanding the Effects tab settings are going to augment the native ffb & if you check forced effect it will overwrite the native ffb, so to answer your question, maybe. Sorry I'm still unclear myself on a few of the details
WYeah, Forced means it will use spring/etc settings from VPforce settings, and won't let the game override them.
The idea was to have hardware force trim and prevent the game from taking over the spring settings. i.e. firmware controls the virtual center (trim) instead of the game.

Si really like the idea of a diagram but it would be nice to make the labels more noob friendly. Are internal effects what comes from the forced checkbox? where does the game telemetry enter-is it dynamic device? and why is that a pool? why is sine wave in dynamic device? there is also a checkbox for periodic effects in vpconfigurator-does this digram mean there are two sources of sine wave-the game and the firmware?
WIt would also be helpful to have the explanations as a pop up when hovering over the setting. Fortunately I think the default settings work great out of box for DCS.
WAlso is my understanding right that if I use just the Config tool and DCS, the only FFB effects I would get would be based on the FFB programmed into the particular aircraft — hence better FFB for F-14 vs the Hornet. If I want more FFB, I would need to use some telemetry export to convert that to FFB to the stick?
AThe way I understand it: internal effects are what you configure in the rhino app, dynamic are what come from the game. When they are greyed out, it’s because dynamic, by default, overrides internal. Therefore it means in this example, spring and damper come from the game and therefore ignore the internal setup effects. The forced enabled would basically stop this override from happening
AInertia and friction aren’t being applied from the game, so they continue to exist as configured in the rhino app
APeriodic effects are effects are like Sine — currently they can only come from the game

WThe feel of the stick with FFB is quite a game changer. I love how there almost no stick pressure on the runway in the P51 but it becomes harder to move control surfaces when you pick up speed.
WI also liked how this works pretty much out of the box for Apache and Huey
WThe Configurator tool is pretty intimidating but I appreciate the flexibility

KIs there a way to get the stick to fall forward realistically when you're just on the runway? For me, the stick just stays put whereever I move it (but still gets loading from propwash and on takeoff
RThat’s on the game simulating the weight of the elevators or any down spring in the linkage. Most aren’t doing that.
KThis is a competing product, but the presenter is saying that this is the game actually doing this - shown for both DCS and IL-2

RWhen I put my warthog F-16 on my Sidewinder rig it does that.

RI must admit, for IL2 I’m a P-38 lifer so I’m still on my Saitek yoke when ever I play that.
RAnd I’m Tomcat all day on DCS. And that definitely slams the stick to the plane’s trimmed spring center when you load in.
GThe 14 effects are fantastic. The only thing missing is g loading
GThe loading and unloading at speed when you trim is the best of any fast mover, IMO

SDCS doesn’t model that which is a bit of an immersion killer. My understanding is that DCS uses only spring effect including offset center (trim) and periodic effects (shaking). It is on ED to first add the other effects to DCS core and then module makers can implement wider range of effects for us.
Ai tried out the F-14 the other day, one thing I noticed is that it had my stick WAAAY forward constantly, is there something I was missing from a configuration perspective?
GNo, that's representative of the real thing
GI'm sure there would be a way to adjust it, but that's how it's supposed to be. Most jets have limited forward travel, because the meat servos in the pilot seat can't handle nearly as much negative g as we can positive
