Is there a way to get the stick to fall forward realistically when you're just on the runway? For me, the stick just stays put whereever I move it (but still gets loading from propwash and on takeoff

That’s on the game simulating the weight of the elevators or any down spring in the linkage. Most aren’t doing that.

This is a competing product, but the presenter is saying that this is the game actually doing this - shown for both DCS and IL-2

I only have spring and damper enabled as per Walmis's set up.
I wonder if it is the damper preventing the stick from falling forward

He’s only ever letting it go at idle power from center. It also does a full flop to upper left when he cuts power.

And I’m Tomcat all day on DCS. And that definitely slams the stick to the plane’s trimmed spring center when you load in.

DCS doesn’t model that which is a bit of an immersion killer. My understanding is that DCS uses only spring effect including offset center (trim) and periodic effects (shaking). It is on ED to first add the other effects to DCS core and then module makers can implement wider range of effects for us.

i tried out the F-14 the other day, one thing I noticed is that it had my stick WAAAY forward constantly, is there something I was missing from a configuration perspective?

I'm sure there would be a way to adjust it, but that's how it's supposed to be. Most jets have limited forward travel, because the meat servos in the pilot seat can't handle nearly as much negative g as we can positive

There is no WW1 planes in DCS so he probably meant in IL-2 WW1 planes model the droop.

also another odd quirk I found. with the WW1 planes in IL2, the droop is modeled, so long as you don't alt-tab. Once you alt tab, all the other FFB effects work, but that one breaks

I think it's probably worth-while to start a repository of FFB quirks and whatnot, so that if someone else experiences this issue, they don't have to pull out their hair wondering if it is them, the stick or the software

I've brought this up a few times. The real F14 has its grip angled backward from the main stick shaft to compensate.

So for us to correct this, we also need an adapter to offset the grip angled rearward.

my msffb 2 stick does the same effects and the rhino can also do it. the stick will droop forward when the prop isn't pushing too much air through the elevator but once you push the throttle forward the stick will go to center. Also the weird thing you might be noticing with the stick not centering where its supposed to is just a bug, you can trim back to center to fix it.

Awesome! I’m working on a DIY grip and figured I could add a pot if that was the case using a 6 pin DIN cable. 5 pins used for the shift register and the 6th pin used for pot signal.

If your DIY grip has an arduino inside, you can transfer analog axis via the shift-register data also
