SFor helos it would make a lot of sense for me, vs the damper mod I have on it. Very ambitious, but I would love it if there was an easy way to add motors to toe break to simulate hydraulic pressure. I feel like I would feel some haptic sensation from the pedals during turbulence and what not
AIt could be a decent artificial feedback for it

KAbsolutely it does. Especially for GA and gliders. As @walmis pointed out, it's super strong during a slip but even airspeed vs pressure on a cessna is super noticeable in real life. My legs are tired from pressing the right rudder after a long flight doing pattern work (where lots of slips are used). For gliders it's even more pronounced: Almost no resistance on the ground but increasingly so as speed increases. I think you fly a K-21 @leninjahd , I haven't flown one of those yet, but in the 2-33 I fly learning the "feel" of the pedals is certainly part of the flight training.
MGlider pilot here.. there is nothing you feel on the rudder in a side slip or even full forward slip that would have any benefit from active feedback. Air is still just trying to push it back to center. Helicopter anti torque pedals would benefit from a trimmer though. Varying strength of rudder centering would be nice and all but imo ff rudder is still a solution looking for a problem
KInteresting perspective. You don't experience the feel of the rudder changing with speed? I don't think FFB would add "required" feedback but I do think it would bring added realism. At least in my experience the required force during a pre-flight check is significantly weaker than when doing a turn at speed. I'd describe it kinda like you can feel your foot swinging the rear of the glider back into position. Edit: Another example from GA is when doing stalls and spins. When you bring that nose up and airspeed drops the rudder becomes very "floppy" as that stall horn starts to whine. Then as you dive to gain airspeed it tightens back up pretty quickly.
PI've been thinking about this, but aren't toe brakes just, well, brakes? so what about a load cell mod for the toe brakes & the ffb for the rudder axis?
Pyeah all good reasons to have ffb. What I've come to believe personally since having the Rhino is that ffb is really good for emulating the different feelings you get in flight controls through different flight regimes & even on the ground feel, as you stated with the rudder pedals feeling 'floppy' at some points compared to their stiffening when going at higher speeds. I think ffb effects like gun shake etc. are great bonuses for immersion/fun, but the ability to customize the feel of stick/rudder for each aircraft & have those differing feelings in the controls for each is the major 'selling point' for ffb imho.
SI guess it would depend what brakes you're using and when. Like in the av8b, I remember when towing, the brakes would gradually get stiffer as I kept pumping em. Incredibly small detail, but would be nice to experience in VR

By load cell, you mean those spring l looking things some sim racing pedals have?Pyeah typically the brake pedal on decent sim racing sets will have a load cell, usually with a spring then a soft rubber then harder rubber pads that push onto the load cell, the load cell just registers the amount of pressure pressed down on it. All this gives the feeling similar to a real car brake pedal

JSimucube is the highest end company big sim company on the market all of their stuff is super expensive. I agree it is overpriced AF but that's what their demographic is. Their demographic is used to paying such premium pricing for premium things.
I'd argue motion rigs are also overpriced. DIY is so much cheaper to achieve the same thing (pending on what motion rig you get ofc)

JBoosted Media has like a $100k sim rig themselves, if that tells you anything about how they view prices of things 
JSpeaking of FFB in non-traditional things there's a DIY FFB shifter kit. Makes the shifter feel like a real one mechanically, with proper resistance, vibrations, etc. and can change between H and Sequential
NHas anyone successfully mounted their Rhino to a Virpil desk mount? I've come up with a design I think will work using aluminum box tubing and plates (if I can figure out how to build it or have it built).
I'm trying to keep the overall stick height and position the same as my current setup (Virpil CM3). I plan on keeping the 200cm offset extension I am using as that will put the Rhino low enough to clear my chair.
Here's my rough design.. looking for feedback or to see if anyone has any better ideas. Seems I'd be able to get away with 20deg throw.. perhaps could get full deflection if I pulled the Rhino a bit farther from the mount.

KI’m building the plywood version of @mabo1972 ‘s mount from GitHub. I’d like to build it to be tolerant of different belt setups (slightly different teeth count or different gear ratios). Does anyone have any experience on whether it’s better to add an adjustable idler or to add slots to the motor bolt holes to allow it to slide? https://github.com/mabo1972/FFB-Joystick-Base-Plywood

KI've got plenty of plywood. I'll try an idler in a slot first. If that doesn't work, I'll make the motor mounts into slots.

IQuestion about directinput ffb and dcs. Does dcs command an exact amount of force to the stick based on what a pilot would experience in the real plane? Could you simulate this exactly if the length of the stick, motors etc was known? The master gain functionality on the stick works great, but a bit confused om how to get the most realistic result.

IFor the highest forces yes, but for most use cases (normal flying) surely the Rhino covers it. Maxing forces / gain makes normal flying really tough.
MIt’s almost too gentle in the middle for some planes I feel
MLike the spitty and mozzie are still very wobbly
MThe flying is never hard though
MI think it just teaches you the be a bit less extreme
MThe only two you yank to the limit is the hornet and the m2k as they are fbw
MAnd maybe the 109 if you didn’t trim in the turn
MEvery other plane just is a gentle pull well within the axis limits (until you’re slow)
II guess this is my question. Does dcs tell directinput that it wants exactly x amount of force in some direction and how does this translate to the stick which has all sorts of force multiplyer config?
